Keep Me Warm (Irving Berlin Song)
Finland was represented by Carita Holmström, with the song "Keep Me Warm", at the 1974 Eurovision Song Contest, which took place on 6 April in Brighton. Before Eurovision The Finnish national selection consisted of two semi finals and a final. The shows were hosted by Matti Palosmaa. Semi finals It both semi finals eight songs competed and four songs qualified for the final. The finalists were chosen by regional juries. First semi final Second semi final Final The final was held on February 16 at Finlandia Hall in Helsinki. The winner was chosen by a professional jury consisting of 20 members. British singer-songwriter Roger Whittaker performed as an interval act. The winning song "Älä mene pois" was performed in Finnish in the national selection shows but it was translated into English for the international Song Contest as "Keep Me Warm". Carita Elisabeth Holmström (born 10 February 1954, in Helsinki) is a Finnish pianist, singer and songwriter. She has written and played jazz and classical music during her career. She also had a duo, Carita & Marianne, with Marianne "Maru" Nyman. Muska
Marija "Muska" Babitzin (born 28 June 1952 in Helsinki, Finland) is a Finnish singer. She became famous in 1971 with "Kirjoita postikorttiin" ('Write on the postcard'), a cover version of Send Me a Postcard by Shocking Blue. Her first, eponymous album was released in 1973. It featured the hit "Krokotiili-rock" (cover of Crocodile Rock by Elton John). Muska participated with her brother Georgij "Ykä" Babitzin in the Finnish national final of Eurovision Song Contest, Euroviisut 1974. The entry "Senhän sanoo järkikin" came sixth. In 1979 she again participated in the Finnish national final with her brother Kirka Babitzin and sister Anna Babitzin. The Finlandia Hall is a congress and event venue in the centre of Helsinki on the Töölönlahti Bay, owned by the City of Helsinki. The building, which was designed by architect Alvar Aalto, was completed in 1971. Every detail in the building is designed by Aalto. Juha Vainio
Juha Harri "Junnu" Vainio, also known as Juha "Watt" Vainio (10 May 1938 in Kotka, Finland – 29 October 1990, Gryon, Switzerland) was a Finnish lyricist, singer, composer and teacher. With the lyrics or music to over 2,400 songs to his name, Vainio is one of Finland's most prolific lyricists along with Sauvo Puhtila, Reino Helismaa and Vexi Salmi. Vainio enjoyed a short professional career as a teacher at Kymenranta Primary School. Vainio began writing songs in the early 1960s and continued until his death. Apart from his home town Kotka, he lived for several years in Helsinki and Espoo. In his last years Vainio lived in Gryon, Switzerland, where he died of a heart attack in October 1990. Marion Rung (born 7 December 1945 in Helsinki) is a Finnish pop singer. She is known for having represented Finland in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1962 and 1973. Jorma Juhani Panula (born 10 August 1930) is a Finnish conductor, composer, and teacher of conducting.
