Kawana Waters, Queensland
Kawana Waters is an urban centre on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia, between Caloundra and Maroochydore along the Coral Sea coast. It was originally the estate development name and has passed into common usage, but it is not officially a town nor a locality. The official suburbs (listed below) are connected by the Nicklin Way arterial road. It is sometimes abbreviated to Kawana, which is a suburb of Rockhampton. Many shopping and sporting facilities, including Kawana Shoppingworld are located in the Kawana Waters estate area. Geography Kawana Waters is a narrow urban area bounded roughly by Mooloolah River to the north and northwest, the ocean to the east and Currimundi Lake to the south. Sunshine Coast, Queensland
The Sunshine Coast is a peri-urban region in South East Queensland, Australia. It is the district defined in 1967 as "the area contained in the Shires of Landsborough, Maroochy and Noosa, but excluding Bribie Island". Located north of the centre of Brisbane in South East Queensland, on the Coral Sea coastline, its urban area spans approximately of coastline and hinterland from Pelican Waters to Tewantin. The area was first settled by Papuasians migrating from northern Australia. Europeans settled in the area in the 19th century, with development progressing slowly until tourism became an important industry. Bokarina is a coastal suburb in the Sunshine Coast Region, Queensland, Australia, located within the Kawana Waters urban centre. In the , Bokarina had a population of 1,351 people. History The name ''Bokarina'' was bestowed at the request of the land developer, Alfred Grant Pty Ltd, in the belief that the name was an Aboriginal expression indicating ''middle'' i.e. half-way along the Kawana Waters land-development scheme in 1969. In the early 1980s, Bokarina emerged as Bokarina Beach, with an initial subdivision between the foreshore reserve and the sports complex on Nicklin Way. Nambour is a rural town and locality in the Sunshine Coast Region, Queensland, Australia. In the , the locality of Nambour had a population of 11,187 people. Geography Nambour is north of the state capital, Brisbane. Landsborough is a town and a locality in the Sunshine Coast Region, Queensland, Australia. At the , Landsborough had a population of 4,446 people. Geography Landsborough is in the Sunshine Coast hinterland. It is situated north of the Glasshouse Mountains just off Steve Irwin Way, north of Brisbane at the base of the southern end of the Blackall Range. Buderim ( ) is an urban centre on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia. It sits on a mountain which overlooks the southern Sunshine Coast communities. In the , the urban area of Buderim had a population of 54,483. The name "Buderim" is usually believed to be derived from a local Kabi Kabi Aboriginal word for the hairpin honeysuckle, (Badderam) '' Banksia spinulosa var. collina''. It operates 25 services under contract to the Government of Queensland under the TransLink banner.It is one of Sunbus' operations. The Sunshine Coast Daily is an online newspaper specifically serving the Sunshine Coast region of Queensland, Australia. It is owned by News Corp Australia. It was originally founded as a print newspaper, however since 2020 the publication is only available in digital forms. Warana is a coastal suburb of Kawana Waters in the Sunshine Coast Region, Queensland, Australia. In the , Warana had a population of 3,688 people. Geography Warana is located within the Kawana Waters urban centre. The western boundary of Warana follows the Mooloolah River and the middle of Wyuna Canal. A coastal reserve, which extends southwards into Bokarina and Wurtulla, has been established along the foreshore preventing beachfront development. The area immediately west of the coastal reserve is residential.
