Katja Ebbinghaus
Katja Ebbinghaus (née Burgemeister, born 6 January 1948) is a former professional tennis player from Germany, active from 1969 to 1982. She reached five Grand Slam quarterfinals in singles, and a Grand Slam final in doubles, and played for West Germany in the Federation Cup in all but two years between 1970 and 1979. Career Ebbinghaus reached the final of the women's doubles at the 1974 French Open, partnering Gail Chanfreau. In the final, Chris Evert and Olga Morozova defeated them 6–4, 2–6, 6–1. Virginia Ruzici (born 31 January 1955) is a former professional tennis player from Romania. She won the 1978 French Open singles championship. Career Ruzici became a professional tennis player in 1975. One of her main assets on court was her powerful forehand. In a career spanning 12 years, Ruzici won 12 career singles titles, including one Grand Slam title, the 1978 French Open. In the final, she beat 1977 French Open champion Mima Jaušovec 6–2, 6–2. Mima Jaušovec
Mima Jaušovec (; born 20 July 1956) is a retired Yugoslavian tennis player. She won the 1977 French Open singles championship. Early life Jaušovec was born in Maribor, in present-day Slovenia, when it was part of Yugoslavia. Career As a girl, she was coached by Jelena Genčić, a woman whose players went on to collect 31 Grand Slam single titles. In singles, Jaušovec reached a career high of No. 6 in 1982. Her only Grand Slam triumph came in the 1977 French Open singles championship. In 1978, she again reached the final but was defeated by Virginia Ruzici. Helga Niessen Masthoff (née Niessen; born 11 November 1941) is a retired tennis player from West Germany. Her best Grand Slam (tennis), Grand Slam singles tournament was when she reached the 1970 French Open – Women's singles, 1970 French Open final, losing to Margaret Court in straight sets. The German Open (currently known as the Grass Court Championships Berlin or bett1open) is a WTA Tour affiliated professional tennis tournament for women played in West Berlin, West Germany (until 1990), then Berlin, Germany from 1991 to 2008 following reunification. Held since 1896, it was one of the oldest tournaments for women. Until 1978 the tournament was held in Hamburg together with the men's tournament. From 1988, it was classified on the WTA Tour as a Tier I tournament. After an absence of more than a decade, the tournament was announced to return to the WTA calendar for the 2020 season. The Canadian Open (french: Tournoi de tennis du Canada), also known as the Canada Masters, and currently branded as the National Bank Open presented by Rogers for sponsorship reasons, is an annual tennis tournament held in Ontario and Quebec. The men's competition is a Masters 1000 event on the ATP Tour, and the women's competition is a WTA 1000 tournament on the WTA Tour. The competition is played on outdoor hard courts. Prior to 2011, they were held during separate weeks in the July–August period; now the two competitions are held during the same week in August. Evonne Fay Goolagong Cawley (née Goolagong; born 31 July 1951) is an Australian former world No. 1 tennis player. Goolagong was one of the world's leading players in the 1970s and early 1980s. At the age of 19, she won the French Open singles and the Australian Open doubles championships (the latter with Margaret Court). She won the women's singles tournament at Wimbledon in 1971. During her 17-year career, Reid won one Grand Slam singles title and 26 other singles titles and was the runner-up in 40 singles tournaments.
