Katie Curtis
Catherine Rachel "Katie" Prankerd (née Curtis; born 1 November 1988) is a Welsh former professional road and track cyclist. Career Born in Cardiff, Prankerd began competing at a young age with the Maindy Flyers children's cycle club before joining Cardiff Ajax. Prankerd set the record for the Tandem Standing Start event on the track along with Alex Greenfield, with a time of 7 minutes 4.424 seconds. The record was set at the Newport Velodrome on 10 June 2004. They also held the Tandem Standing Start event on the track, with a time of 13 minutes 10.421 seconds. The record was also set at the Newport Velodrome, on 16 May 2006. In 2008 Prankerd rode with Team Halfords Bikehut before moving to Vision1 Racing in 2009. Prankerd suffered a setback to her cycling career when she was diagnosed with Crohn's disease. The British National Circuit Race Championships cover several different categories of British road bicycle racing events, normally held annually. The first championships were held in 1979 for professional cyclists only. Amateur championships were introduced in 1993 but only 3 of these were held as the amateur and professional championships were combined into an open event in 1996. Cycling At The 2014 Commonwealth Games
Cycling is one of seven optional sports that were included in the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. Cycling has appeared consistently since their first appearance at the 1934 British Empire Games in London with track and road events at every Games since and mountain biking being included from 2002. The track cycling events were hosted at the newly built Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome in Glasgow's East End, whilst the mountain bike competitions utilised the purpose built Cathkin Braes Mountain Bike Trails. The road race and time trial events took place on public road circuits in Glasgow City Centre and North Lanarkshire respectively, with both starting and finishing at Glasgow Green. Australian Annette Edmondson and Amy Cure came first respectively second – with Elinor Barker from Wales finishing third. The event was held at Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome in Glasgow, Scotland. The British National Derny Championships are annual bicycle races held in the United Kingdom. The event was originally run as a motor paced event behind the larger stayer motors, but in 2000 a demonstration championship was run using derny bikes, opening the championship up to wider participation. The first official championship took place in 2001 for the Ron Pugsley Trophy. The British Cycling National Derny Paced Championship is run over 30 km.
