Karl Deutsch (Karosseriebau)
Karl Deutsch GmbH was a coach building firm known, in its later years, for converting mainstream motor cars into cabriolets. The business was located in Köln-Braunsfeld, a district on the west side of what today would be defined as central Cologne. History In 1913 Karl Deutsch acquired the wheel-making business of J. W. Utermöhle GmbH. In 1916 Deutsch changed the name of the firm to Karl Deutsch GmbH, now concentrating on the production of trailers for the army. Ford-Werke GmbH is a German car manufacturer headquartered in Niehl, Cologne, North Rhine-Westphalia. It is a subsidiary of Ford Motor Company, which operates two large manufacturing facilities in Germany, a plant in Cologne and a plant in Saarlouis. Berlin origins The earliest presence of the Ford Motor Company in Germany was a parts operation set up in Hamburg in 1912. At the end of 1924 the US Ford Motor Company established a sales office in Berlin which at the start of 1925 received a permit to import 1,000 tractors. Opel Automobile GmbH (), usually shortened to Opel, is a German automobile manufacturer which has been a subsidiary of Stellantis since 16 January 2021. Karosseriebau Autenrieth
Karosseriebau Autenrieth was a coachbuilding company in Darmstadt, Germany between the years 1921 to 1964. In the first decades of automobile manufacturing until World War II, it was the German custom of their buying a chassis complete with an engine and take it to a coachbuilder to add a custom-built body to it. One of coachbuilders was Georg Autenrieth, who founded his company in 1921 in Weinsberg near Heilbronn and moved it in 1925 to ''72 Feldbergstraße, Darmstadt''. Customized orders were made for individual sedans, coupées, convertibles and custom-made products on chassis of various well-known pre-war automotive manufacturers such as Adler (automobile), Adler, Audi, Horch, Maybach, Mercedes-Benz, Opel, NSU Motorenwerke, NSU, and Röhr-Werke in Ober-Ramstadt near Darmstadt. Borgward
The former Borgward car manufacturing company, based in Bremen, Germany, was founded by Carl F. W. Borgward (1890–1963). It produced cars of four brands, which were sold to a diversified international customer base: Borgward, Hansa, Goliath and Lloyd. Borgward's Isabella was one of the most popular German premium models in the 1950s, while Lloyd's Alexander / Lloyd 600 model offered affordable mobility to many working-class motorists. The group ceased operations in 1961, following controversial insolvency proceedings. The brand was revived in the 21st century, with the Stuttgart-based Borgward Group AG designing and marketing cars manufactured in China.
