Karam Mustafayev
Karam Nariman oglu Mustafayev ( az, Kərəm Nəriman oğlu Mustafayev; born 1962) is an Azerbaijani military officer, colonel general serving as the deputy minister of defence of Azerbaijan and the commander of the Nakhchivan Garrison of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces. Early life Karam Nariman oglu Mustafayev was born on 1 July 1962, in Sharur District of the Nakhchivan ASSR within the Azerbaijani SSR, which was then part of the Soviet Union. He graduated from the Baku Higher Combined Arms Command School in 1983, Nakhchivan State University in 2002, and the War College of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces in 2006. Military career Karam Mustafayev started his military service in 1983. Until 1992, he served as a platoon commander, division commander and battalion commander in the Soviet Armed Forces. Sharur District
Sharur District ( az, Şərur rayonu) is one of the 7 districts of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic of Azerbaijan. The district borders the districts of Kangarli, Sadarak, as well as the Vayots Dzor and Ararat provinces of Armenia and the West Azerbaijan Province of Iran. Its capital and largest city is Sharur. As of 2020, the district had a population of 117,600. Etymology The district was known as Norashen from 1930 to 1964, then Ilich or Ilichyovsk from 1964 to 1991 in honour of Vladimir Ilich Lenin. The Supreme Assembly of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic ( az, Naxçıvan Muxtar Respublikasının Ali Məclisi) is the legislative assembly of Nakhchivan. Independence Day (Azerbaijan)
The Day of Restoration of Independence ( Azerbaijani: Azərbaycanda Müstəqilliyin Bərpası Günü) is a state holiday in Azerbaijan. It is celebrated annually on October 18. On this day in 1991, the Supreme Soviet of Azerbaijan adopted a Constitutional Act on the Declaration of Independence of Azerbaijan. The declaration was confirmed by a referendum in December 1991. Until 2021, it was marked as Independence Day. In October 2021, it was renamed and became Day of Restoration of Independence.
