Karachi Urban Transport Corporation (KUTC) ( ur, ) is a municipal agency responsible for planning and integrating road transport and public transport in the Metropolitan Karachi area. It has assumed other key initiatives including the construction of the Karachi Circular Railway and Karachi BRT as well as multiple other projects supporting public transport in the city. History KUTC was registered on 8 May 2008 in Securities & Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) as Public Limited Company. Pakistan Railways 60%, Government of Sindh 25% and City District Government Karachi has 15% share in this corporation. Karachi Circular Railway
Karachi Circular Railway (abbreviated as KCR) ( ur, , Sindhi: ڪراچي سرڪيولر ريلوي) is a partially active regional public transit system in Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan, which serves the Karachi metropolitan area. KCR was fully operational between 1964 to 1994, until it was abruptly shutdown in 1999. Since 2001, several restart attempts were sought and in November 2020, the KCR partially revived operations on the orders of Supreme Court of Pakistan. With its hub at Karachi City station on I. I. Chundrigar Road, KCR's revived operations would extend north to Gadap, east to Dhabeji, south to Kiamari and west to Hub in Balochistan. Karachi Breeze is a is a network of bus rapid transit lines under construction in Karachi, Pakistan. Construction began in 2013, two lines are operational and one line is under construction as of early 2022, with 3 more planned. The projected ridership of the first line is estimated at 350,000 passengers per day, with a total of 109 km of dedicated bus routes. Upon completion, it will become the largest BRT network in Pakistan, and will connect to the Karachi Circular Railway.
