Kansas City Attack
The Kansas City Attack, previously the Atlanta Attack and later known as the Kansas City Comets, were an indoor soccer team based for most of its existence in Kansas City, Missouri. In its various incarnations the franchise played in the National Professional Soccer League (1984–2001), National Professional Soccer League from 1989–2001 and the second Major Indoor Soccer League (2001–2008), Major Indoor Soccer League from 2001–2005. They played their home games at the Municipal Auditorium (Kansas City), Municipal Auditorium and later Kemper Arena. History The franchise originated as the Atlanta Attack, which joined the American Indoor Soccer Association as an expansion team based in Atlanta, Georgia in 1989. In 1990 the league changed its name to the National Professional Soccer League (1984–2001), National Professional Soccer League. Kemper Arena
The Hy-Vee Arena, previously known as Kemper Arena, is an indoor arena located in Kansas City, Missouri. Prior to conversion to a youth sports and community gymnasium facility, Kemper Arena was previously a 19,500-seat professional sports arena. It has hosted NCAA Final Four basketball games, professional basketball and hockey teams, professional wrestling events, the 1976 Republican National Convention, concerts, and is the ongoing host of the American Royal livestock show. It was originally named for R. Crosby Kemper Sr., a member of the powerful Kemper financial clan and who donated $3.2 million from his estate for the arena. Jim Schwab
Jim Schwab is a retired American soccer defender who played professionally in the Major Indoor Soccer League and National Professional Soccer League. He coached the Kansas City Attack to the 1997 NPSL championship and has coached the Johnson County Community College soccer teams since 1990. Player Schwab attended Florissant Valley Community College, playing on the men’s soccer team in 1983 and 1984. In 1985, the Kansas City Comets selected Schwab in the third round of the Major Indoor Soccer League draft. He played three seasons with the Comets. In 1988, he moved to the Hershey Impact of the National Professional Soccer League for one season. He returned to the Comets in 1991. The team folded in 1992 and Schwab joined the Kansas City Attack of the NSPL. In 1996, he became a player-coach for the Attack and led them to the league title. He retired as a player in 1998. Keith Tozer
Keith Tozer is a retired American soccer player who played professionally in the Major Indoor Soccer League, American Soccer League and American Indoor Soccer Association. He is currently the commissioner of the Major Arena Soccer League. Player College Tozer grew up in upstate New York. After graduating from high school, he attended Oneonta State from 1975 to 1979, where he played as a forward on the men's soccer team. He finished his four seasons at Oneonta with the school's all-time points record of 117 points off 50 goals and 17 assists. In 2002, Oneonta State inducted Tozer into the school's Athletic Hall of Fame. Professional In 1978, the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) was preparing for its first season.
