Kannada Cinema
Kannada cinema, also known as Sandalwood, or Chandanavana, is the segment of Indian cinema dedicated to the production of motion pictures in the Kannada language widely spoken in the state of Karnataka. The 1934 film ''Sati Sulochana'' directed by Y. V. Rao was the first talkie film in the Kannada language. It was also the first film starring Subbaiah Naidu and Tripuramba, and was the first motion picture screened in the erstwhile Mysore Kingdom. The film was produced by Chamanlal Doongaji, who in 1932 founded ''South India Movietone'' in Bangalore. Major literary works have been adapted to the Kannada screen such as B. V. Udaya Chandrika(Kannada Actress)
Udaya Chandrika was an Indian actress of Kannada cinema from the mid-1960s to the mid-1970s. She also appeared in Tamil, Malayalam and Telugu-language films. Career Udaya Chandrika began her career with ''Katari Veera'', released in 1966. She played Dr. Rajkumar's sweetheart in that film. Later, she went on to play many roles in Kannada films till her last appearance in ''Udugore'', released in 1979, with Kalyan Kumar. She acted with almost all the stars of her time, like Dr. Rajkumar, Kalyan Kumar, Udaykumar, Rajesh, Vishnuvardhan, Srinath, Rajinikanth, etc. She even worked with Sivaji Ganesan, MGR, Prem Nazir, Krishna in her other language films. She produced two films under her banner Chandrika Films, ''Asadhya Aliya'', starring Vishnuvardhan and ''Kiladi Aliya'', starring Shankar Nag in the lead roles. Leelavathi (born Leela Kiran) is an Indian actress who worked in Kannada, Tamil and Telugu films. She has acted in more than 600 films (more than 400 in Kannada alone) throughout her career for more than 50 years. She is known for her memorable performances in '' Bhakta Kumbara'' , ''Mana Mecchida Madadi'' and ''Santha Thukaram''. She has been the recipient of the ''Dr. Rajkumar Award'' in 1999 and Filmfare Awards. Early life She was born in 1937 at Beltangadi, Dakshina Kannada district. She lost her parents at the age of 6. Bungle Shama Rao Dwarakanath (born 19 August 1942), better known as Dwarakish ( ), is an Indian actor, director and producer in the Kannada film industry. He was given the name Dwarakish by Kannada film maker C. V. Shivashankar. Early life Dwarakish was born on 19 August 1942. He grew up in Ittigegud, Mysore. He received his primary education in Sharada Vilas and Banumaiah's school, and he graduated from CPC Polytechnic with a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
