Kangerluluk Fjord
Kangerluluk, meaning 'the awful fjord', is a fjord in the King Frederick VI Coast, Kujalleq municipality, southern Greenland. Deposits of rare minerals have been found in this fjord, as well as in neighbouring Igutsaat Fjord. Geography Kangerluluk extends in a roughly east–west direction for about 65 km between Igutsaat Fjord to the north and Iluileq Fjord (Danell Fjord) to the south. To the east the fjord opens into the North Atlantic Ocean between Cape Olfert Fischer and the headland of Qajartalik, just north of Qeqertatsiaq Island. The fjord has a large active glacier at its head and is frequently blocked by ice. Kangerluluk has four short branches on its southern coast. On the northern shore the Syenitbugt is a bay with an islet, located about 11 km from the fjord's mouth. Ultra-prominent Peak
An ultra-prominent peak, or Ultra for short, is a mountain summit with a topographic prominence of or more; it is also called a P1500. The prominence of a peak is the minimum height of climb to the summit on any route from a higher peak, or from sea level if there is no higher peak. There are approximately 1,524 such peaks on Earth. Some well-known peaks, such as the Matterhorn and Eiger, are not Ultras because they are connected to higher mountains by high cols and therefore do not achieve enough topographic prominence. The term "Ultra" originated with earth scientist Steve Fry, from his studies of the prominence of peaks in Washington in the 1980s. Glacier
A glacier (; ) is a persistent body of dense ice that is constantly moving under its own weight. A glacier forms where the accumulation of snow exceeds its Ablation#Glaciology, ablation over many years, often Century, centuries. Qajartalik
Qajartalik ( Inuktitut for "where there is a kayak") is a petroglyph site located on the Qajartalik peninsula of Qikertaaluk Island, Nunavut, approximately 40 km southeast of Kangirsujuaq, Quebec. The site consists of over 150 carvings of faces in soapstone. It was created by the Dorset people, the culture who inhabited the Canadian eastern Arctic and Greenland beginning approximately 2,200 years ago before disappearing approximately 1,000 years ago, and who inhabited the region prior to the Thule Inuit who arrived approximately 800 years ago. It is believed to be the northernmost rock art site in North America and is considered to be one of a kind.
