Kanga Cricket League
The Kanga Cricket League (officially the Dr. H. D. Kanga Memorial Cricket League) is a cricket competition in Mumbai, India, inaugurated in 1948. It is named after Hormasji Kanga, who played 43 First class cricket matches as an all-rounder, and was also a selector for the India national cricket team Origins The Kanga League was founded in 1948, and is held in Mumbai between July and October, during the Indian monsoon season. As such, the grounds are very unpredictable, and can often be very wet, meaning the ball can "stop, shoot, skid and swing - all in a day's play." Shishir Hattangadi has remarked that "If a batsman scored 30 or 50 runs, it would be considered equivalent to an 80 or a 100." The Mumbai Cricket Association (formerly Bombay Cricket Association) is the governing body for cricket in Mumbai and surrounding regions such as Thane and Navi Mumbai. Its headquarter is situated at Cricket centre in Churchgate, Mumbai. It governs Mumbai cricket team and organise, sanctions cricket tournaments in Mumbai district. In cricket, a century is a score of 100 or more runs in a single innings by a batsman. The term is also included in "century partnership" which occurs when two batsmen add 100 runs to the team total when they are batting together. Indian National Cricket Team
The India men's national cricket team, also known as Team India or the Men in Blue, represents India in men's international cricket. Mumbai Cricket Team
The Mumbai cricket team is a cricket team representing the city of Mumbai in Indian domestic cricket. The team's primary home ground is the Wankhede Stadium in South Mumbai. Secondary home venues include the MCA ground in Bandra Kurla Complex Ground and Brabourne Stadium. The team comes under the West Zone designation. It was formerly known as the Bombay cricket team, but changed when the city was officially renamed from Bombay to Mumbai. Arjun Sachin Tendulkar (born 24 September 1999) is an Indian cricketer from Mumbai, Maharashtra. He is son of former cricketer Sachin Tendulkar. Sunil Gavaskar
Sunil Manohar Gavaskar (Marathi pronunciation: uniːl ɡaːʋəskəɾ ; born 10 July 1949), is an Indian cricket commentator and former cricketer who represented India and Bombay from 1971 to 1987. Gavaskar is acknowledged as one of the greatest opening batsmen of all time. Gavaskar was widely admired for his technique against fast bowling, with a particularly high average of 65.45 against the West Indies, who possessed a four-pronged fast bowling attack regarded as the most vicious in Test history. Dattu Phadkar
Dattatraya Gajanan "Dattu" Phadkar (12 December 1925 – 17 March 1985) was an all-rounder who represented India in Test cricket. Phadkar was an attacking middle order batsman, a medium pace bowler who could swing the ball both ways and extract life from the wicket, and usually fielded in the slips. He was one of the cricketing heart-throbs of his day. Phadkar was educated in Bombay in the Robert Money High School and took a B.A. degree from Elphinstone College. At the age of 10, he scored 156 in an inter-school match. He represented Bombay University at cricket between 1941/42 and 1946/47. On his collegiate debut, he hit 274, which was then a record. Ramesh Vithaldas 'Buck' Divecha (18 October 1927 – 19 February 2003) was an Indian Test cricketer. Divecha was a right-arm bowler who bowled fast-medium or off-breaks, and a useful batsman. In 1942 while studying in Wilson College he was arrested in connection with the Quit India movement. He was not charged, and he took no active part in politics after that. His father V.J. Divecha was a club cricketer, President of the Bombay Cricket Association and the Vice President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India. While studying at Worcester College, Oxford, Divecha played four seasons of cricket for Oxford University and earned blues in 1950 and 1951. Test cricket is a form of first-class cricket played at international level between teams representing full member countries of the International Cricket Council (ICC).
