Mumbai Cricket Association
The Mumbai Cricket Association (formerly Bombay Cricket Association) is the governing body for cricket in Mumbai and surrounding regions such as Thane and Navi Mumbai. Its headquarter is situated at Cricket centre in Churchgate, Mumbai. It governs Mumbai cricket team and organise, sanctions cricket tournaments in Mumbai district. Its Mumbai team is the most dominant team in India's First-class cricket. It has won Ranji Trophy record 41 times. Cricketers such as Vijay Merchant, Sunil Gavaskar and Sachin Tendulkar etc have played for MCA's team. Its team historically known as Batting (cricket), batting powerhouse and for "''Khadoos''" style of play in which the batter sticks to the wickets and plays long innings. Cricket
Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out"). Means of dismissal include being bowled, when the ball hits the stumps and dislodges the bails, and by the fielding side either catching the ball after it is hit by the bat, but before it hits the ground, or hitting a wicket with the ball before a batter can cross the crease in front of the wicket. Kharghar
Kharghar is a node of Navi Mumbai and it is a suburb under Panvel Municipal Corporation. It is situated at the northernmost tip of Raigad district. It was developed by the City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO). Kharghar is now administered by recently established Panvel Municipal Corporation. Cricket Club of India (CCI) is a cricket club in India. It is located on Dinsha Wacha Road, in Churchgate of Mumbai, India. It was conceived as India's counterpart to the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC). It is considered one of the most prestigious clubs in the nation. The CCI uses the Brabourne Stadium for cricket games. Parsi Gymkhana Ground
Parsi Gymkhana Ground is a multipurpose club ground in Mumbai, Maharashtra. The ground is mainly used for organizing matches of football, cricket and other sports. The ground was founded by Parsi cricketers, the Gymkhana fielded the Parsees cricket team during the Bombay Quadrangular and its successor Bombay Pentangular cricket tournaments. Parsi Gymkhana was founded in 1884 and was opened in 1888. In 2010, Parsi Gymkhana along with other community organisations announced a project to revive interest in cricket among the community. Hindu Gymkhana Ground
PJ Hindu Gymkhana Ground is a multi purpose club ground in Marine Drive, Mumbai, Maharashtra. The ground is mainly used for organizing matches of football, cricket and other sports. The gymkhana ground itself was inaugurated by then Governor of Bombay, Lord Harris on 5 May 1894. At that time it was located on Marine Lines, which was the only access as Marine Drive was yet to be reclaimed. Hindu Gymkhana was responsible for fielding the Hindus cricket team in the Bombay Quadrangular and its successor Bombay Pentangular cricket tournaments. The gymkhana is one of the founder members of the Bombay Cricket Association. 2011 Cricket World Cup
The 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup was the tenth Cricket World Cup. It was played in India, Sri Lanka, and for the first time in Bangladesh. India won the tournament, defeating Sri Lanka by 6 wickets in the final at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, thus becoming the first country to win the Cricket World Cup final on home soil.
