Kandis is a Danish dansband (; "dance band"), or in Norwegian and Danish, is a Swedish term for a band that plays ("dance band music"). ' is often danced to in pairs. Formed in 1989, Kandis scored their biggest hit in 1993, "En lille ring af guld," which topped the Danish Danse Charts for a total of 33 weeks. Their albums regularly chart in the Top 5 of the Danish Albums Chart, such as 2008's ''Kandis 12'' or 2011's ''Kandis 14''. Grand Theatre (Copenhagen)
The Grand Theatre (Danish: ''Grand Teatret''), located in Mikkel Bryggers Gade (No. 9), a small side street off Strøget, is one of the oldest cinemas in Copenhagen, Denmark. The cinema is based in the rear side of the Palace Hotel complex on City Hall Square. The building was completed to an Art Deco design by Anton Rosen in 1910. It was listed in the Danish registry of protected buildings and places in 1993. History The cinema is located on the rear side of the block which also contains the Palace Hotel on City Hall Square, Copenhagen's most fashionable hotel at the time of its opening in 1910. The entire block was designed by the architect Anton Rosen. The first cinema at the site opened on 26 December 1913. It was known as Empire Theatre and based in Palace Hotel's Grand Hall which had originally been built as a concert hall accessed from Mikkel Bryggers Gade. Johnny Hansen (musician)
Johnny Hansen (born 25 July 1965) is a Danish singer and musician, most famous as vocalist and guitarist of dansband Kandis. In addition to his career in Kandis, he has also released his own materials including four albums. In 1983, at age 18, he joined the band Airport that split up in 1988. With Jens Erik Jensen, a fellow musician, he formed the duo Jens Erik and Torben. With bassist Jørgen Hein Jørgensen joining later, the duo became a band renamed as Kandis. He also took part in 2001 in Dansk Melodi Grand Prix with the song "Lidt efter lidt" in a bid to represent Denmark in Eurovision Song Contest 2001. It was co-written by him and Nanna Kalinka Bjerke. His song did not qualify in selection round of ten songs. Personal life Johnny Hansen is the son of Bjørn Hansen of Bjørn & Okay fame. The main influence for rock-oriented bands is the rock music of the 1950s and 1960s. The terms ' and ' were coined around 1970, when Swedish popular music developed a signature style. The genre developed primarily in Sweden, but has spread to neighbouring countries Norway, Denmark and the Swedish-speaking regions of Finland.
