Kander Neve
The Kander Neve (german: Kanderfirn) is a long glacier (2005) of the Bernese Alps, situated south of Kandersteg in the canton of Berne. The glacier lies at the upper end of the Gasterental, at the foot of the Blüemlisalp and the Tschingelhorn. It borders the valley of Lauterbrunnen on the east (Tschingel Pass) and the canton of Valais on the south ( Petersgrat). In 1973 it had an area of . The glacier feeds the head waters of the Kander, a river that flows into Lake Thun, and hence into the Aare and the Rhine. Tschingel Pass
The Tschingel Pass (2,787 m) is a high mountain pass of the Bernese Alps, connecting Kandersteg with Stechelberg in the Bernese Oberland. It is the lowest pass between the upper Kandertal and the valley of Lauterbrunnental, Lauterbrunnen. The pass is glaciated and separated the Kander Glacier from the Tschingel Glacier. The Petersgrat is a mountain of the Bernese Alps, located on the border between the Swiss cantons of Bern and Valais. It consists of a large ridge, which is entirely covered by ice. Aare
The Aare () or Aar () is a tributary of the High Rhine and the longest river that both rises and ends entirely within Switzerland. Its total length from its source to its junction with the Rhine comprises about , during which distance it descends , draining an area of , almost entirely within Switzerland, and accounting for close to half the area of the country, including all of Central Switzerland. Lake Thun
Lake Thun (german: Thunersee) is an Alpine lake in the Bernese Oberland in Switzerland named after the city of Thun, on its northern shore. At in surface area, it is the largest Swiss lake entirely within a single canton. The lake was created after the last glacial period. After the 10th century, it split from Lake Brienz, before which the two lakes were combined, as ''Wendelsee'' ("Lake Wendel"). The culminating point of the lake's drainage basin is the Finsteraarhorn at above sea level. Lake Thun's approximate catchment area frequently causes local flooding after heavy rainfalls. This occurs because the river Aare (german: Aare), which drains Lake Thun, has only limited capacity to handle the excess runoff. Originally a tributary of the Aare, with a confluence downstream of the city of Thun, since 1714 it flows into Lake Thun upstream of the city.
