Kandahar International Cricket Stadium
Kandahar International Cricket Stadium ( ps, د کندهار نړيوال کريکټ لوبغالی) is a cricket stadium in Kandahar, Afghanistan. It is currently under construction. The stadium is built on 44 acres of land in the heart of Aino Meyna, a new suburb of Kandahar. The land was donated by Mahmood Karzai to the Afghanistan Cricket Board in 2012. In August 2014, the Government of India approved the grant of $1 million for the construction of the stadium under the Small Development Project Scheme. Construction of the stadium was delayed for two years but has resumed in early 2016, and is expected to be completed before the summer of 2017. As of October 17, 2016, about 70% of the construction work has been completed. It is expected that once the stadium opens, cricket will become more popular in southern Afghanistan. Boost Defenders ( ps, بوست ساتونکي ''Bōst Sātūnkī'') or Boost Region is one of eight regional first-class cricket teams in Afghanistan. The region represents the following provinces in the south and southwest of Afghanistan: Kandahar, Helmand, Nimroz, Uruzgan and Zabul. The team is named after ''Bōst'', the historical name of Lashkargah city in Helmand Province. Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out"). Mahmood Karzai
Mahmood Karzai, also spelled Mahmud Karzai, or Mahmoud Karzai (born 1957 Kandahar) is an Afghan businessman. He was the third of the six children and son of a prominent political figure, Abdul Ahad Karzai who was a member of the Afghan National Assembly during King Zahir Shah's time. Mahmood Karzai is currently the Chairman and President of the AFCO International LLC. Ghazi Amanullah Khan Town ( ps, غازي امان الله خان ښارګوټی) is a planned community located next to the Kabul–Jalalabad Road roughly southeast of Jalalabad in Nangarhar Province of Afghanistan. The town is named after Amanullah Khan, who was the modernizing Emir of Afghanistan from 1919 to 1929. His mausoleum is in the city of Jalalabad.
