Kamil Kowalczyk (born 11 February 1976) is a former Polish footballer who played as a midfielder. Biography It is known that Kowalczyk started his career with Olimpia Poznań, playing with the team in the I liga during the 1994–95 season. He made 12 appearances for in total for Polonia in the top division. Olimpia Poznań is a Polish multi-sport club from Poznań. It has athletics, archery, basketball, boxing, kendo, judo, swimming, tennis, and triathlon sections. The sections are formally independent of each other, sharing the history and name only. The football section, once a top-flight team for many years folded in 2005. Olimpia-Lechia Gdańsk was a short lived Polish association football club, created by a merger of Lechia Gdańsk and Olimpia Poznań, which played in the Ekstraklasa for the 1995-96 Ekstraklasa, 1995–96 season. History Pre-merger Olimpia Poznań Olimpia Poznań was created in 1945, owned by the Milicja Obywatelska, Citizen's Militia. Lechia Gdańsk () is a Polish football club based in Gdańsk. The club was founded in 1945 by people expelled from Lwów, who were supporters of Poland's oldest football team Lechia Lwów, founded in 1903. The club's name comes from Lechia, a poetic name for Poland, and is a continuation of the name used by the club based in Lwów. In their early years, Lechia enjoyed some success, most notably finishing third in the Polish top division, before spending decades in the second and third tiers. Poland Ekstraklasa (), meaning "Extra Class" in Polish, named PKO Ekstraklasa since the 2019–20 season due to its sponsorship by PKO Bank Polski, is the top Polish professional league for men's association football teams. Contested by 18 clubs, operating a system of promotion and relegation with the I liga, seasons start in July, and end in May or June the following year. Teams play a total of 34 games each.
