Kallavesi
Kallavesi is a medium-sized lake in Northern Savonia, eastern Finland located around the town of Kuopio. Combined with the lakes Suvasvesi, Juurusvesi–Akonvesi, Muuruvesi, Melavesi, and Riistavesi Kallavesi forms an lake system named Iso-Kalla. Kallavesi is the largest lake in the region and the tenth largest lake in the country. Kuopio (, ) is a Finnish city and municipality located in the region of Northern Savonia. It has a population of , which makes it the most populous municipality in Finland. Along with Joensuu, Kuopio is one of the major urban, economic, and cultural hubs of Eastern Finland. At the end of 2018, its urban area had a population of 89,307. Kuopio has a total area of , of which is water and half is forest. North Savo (or Northern Savonia; fi, Pohjois-Savo; sv, Norra Savolax) is a region in eastern Finland. Port Of Kuopio
The Port of Kuopio ( Finnish: ''Kuopion satama'') is an inland harbour in the city of Kuopio, Finland, on the shore of Lake Kallavesi. The passenger harbour of the port is located in the Vahtivuori district on the ''Maljalahti'' bay. The cargo harbour for the cargo ship traffic is located in the Haapaniemi district, about two kilometers southwest of the passenger harbour. Kuopio's passenger harbour is the busiest port for passenger traffic in the Vuoksi drainage basin and the Lake Finland. There are many cruise companies and restaurants, and in addition, the harbor has market stalls. The is held at this market square near the harbour. The passenger harbour area is one of the centers of summer tourist activities alongside Kuopio Market Square. The harbour is often filled with walkers admiring Lake Kallavesi, market traders, diners on the terrace and those going on a cruise. Vehmersalmi is a former municipality of Finland. It has been a part of the city of Kuopio since January 1, 2005. It is located in the province of Eastern Finland and is part of the Northern Savonia region. The municipality had a population of 2,053 (2003) and covered an area of 550.59 km² of which 202.47 km² is water. The population density was 5.9 inhabitants per km². The municipality was unilingually Finnish. Vehmersalmi ceased to exist as of 1 January 2005 when it was merged into Kuopio. Suvasvesi
Suvasvesi is a lake in Eastern Finland near the town of Kuopio. Suvasvesi consists of two circular open lakes, Kuukkarinselkä in north and Haapaselkä in south. The lakes are separated by a group of islands. The lake has 688 islands in total. The area of the lake is making it the 18th largest lake in Finland. Kuukkarinselkä is the third deepest lake in Finland measuring in the deepest point. In 2001, shatter cones were found in Kuukkarinselkä making it the 6th known impact crater in Finland. The crater, usually referred as Suvasvesi North crater, is located in the center of Kuukkarinselkä and measures about in diameter. Its age is estimated to be about 85 Ma but the Earth Impact Database (EID) gives a broader span of less than 1000 Ma. Muuruvesi
Muuruvesi is a village and a former municipality of Finland at the time of its existence in the Kuopio Province, now in Northern Savonia. Together with Säyneinen, it was consolidated with Juankoski in 1971, since 2017 part of Kuopio. Geography The municipality bordered Juankoski, Säyneinen, Nilsiä, Kaavi, Tuusniemi, Riistavesi and Siilinjärvi. Villages History Muuruvesi has existed at least since the 1620s. At the time, it was a part of the Kuopio parish. As Nilsiä became a chapel community under Kuopio in 1769, Muuruvesi was became a part of it. Nilsiä became a separate parish in 1816. A division of the Nilsiä parish was ordered in 1899, splitting Muuruvesi and Varpaisjärvi from it, however Muuruvesi only became a functional parish in 1900 and started producing its own church registers in 1908.
