Kalayaan College
Kalayaan College (or KC) is a private, non-sectarian higher education institution formerly located in Marikina that has since moved to Quezon City. It was established in 2000. Kalayaan College is on Manga Road cor Aurora Blvd, near the Manila Light Rail Transit System Line 2, Line 2 Betty Go-Belmonte station, Betty Go-Belmonte. It was established by big names in academic institutions. The college's president, Dr. José Abueva, is a former president of the University of the Philippines. The college follows UP's curriculum, such as the grading system for students (where 1.00 is the highest and 5.00 is the lowest or failing grade). Most of the professors are members of UP's faculty or UP graduates. On July 4, 2022, Kalayaan College announced that it will end its operations after 22 years due to financial losses. Quezon City
Quezon City (, ; fil, Lungsod Quezon ), also known as the City of Quezon and Q.C. (read in Filipino as Kyusi), is the most populous city in the Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 2,960,048 people. It was founded on October 12, 1939, and was named after Manuel L. Quezon, the second president of the Philippines. Marikina
Marikina (), officially the City of Marikina ( fil, Lungsod ng Marikina), is a 1st class highly urbanized city in the National Capital Region of the Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 456,159 people. It is located along the eastern border of Metro Manila, Marikina is the main gateway of Metro Manila to Rizal and Quezon provinces through Marikina–Infanta Highway. It is bordered on the west by Quezon City, to the south by Pasig and Cainta, to the north by San Mateo, and to the east by Antipolo, the capital of Rizal province. Manila Light Rail Transit System Line 2
The Light Rail Transit Line 2, also known as LRT Line 2 (LRT-2) or Megatren, is a rapid transit line in Metro Manila in the Philippines, generally running in an east–west direction along the Radial Road 6 and a portion of the Circumferential Road 1, referred to as the Purple Line, and previously known as the Mass Rapid Transit Line 2 or MRT Line 2 (MRT-2). Although the line is operated by the Light Rail Transit Authority, resulting in it being called as "LRT-2", it is actually a heavy rail, rapid transit line. Instead of the light rail vehicles used in earlier lines, it uses very large metro cars, longer and wider than those used on the PNR network, and roughly the same size as those used on the MTR in Hong Kong, MRT in Bangkok and Singapore, and the heavy metro lines of the Taipei Metro. Betty Go-Belmonte Station
Betty Go-Belmonte station is an elevated Manila Light Rail Transit (LRT) station situated on Line 2. The station during its inception was formerly called as Boston station but was renamed into the current name due to the minor realignment of some stations (the other being V. Mapa) that has caused the change of proximity to the Betty Go-Belmonte Street. The station is located in New Manila in Quezon City and is named after Betty Go-Belmonte, the late wife of House Speaker Feliciano Belmonte Jr. and the founder of The Philippine Star. The station is the seventh station for trains headed to both Antipolo and Recto stations. José Abueva
José Veloso Abueva (May 25, 1928 – August 18, 2021) was a Filipino political scientist and public administration scholar who served as the 16th president of the University of the Philippines. A Ten Outstanding Young Men (TOYM) awardee for political science in 1962, he has devoted much of his career in academic circles. He has been faculty member of the National College of Public Administration and Governance of the University of the Philippines Diliman and visiting professor at Brooklyn College, City University of New York and Yale University. He has also worked with the United Nations University in Tokyo.
