Kaipattoor is a small town in Vallicode panchayat of Pathanamthitta district in Kerala, India. Kaipattoor (also spelled Kaippattoor, Kaippattor and Kaippattur) is located in the western part of Pathanamthitta district. It is 6 kilometers from the district headquarters Pathanamthitta at south east direction. It is watered by the Achenkovil river. The village is under Vallicode Panchayat. Location Kaipattoor is 102 km north of the state capital Thiruvananthapuram. National Highway 183A (India)
National Highway 183A, also known as NH 183A, is a National Highway in the Indian state of Kerala that runs from Chavara Titanium Junction, Kollam, to Vandiperiyar via Adoor and Pathanamthitta. It is the 4th National Highway passing through the Kollam district. Elevation to National Highway The road was declared a National Highway (NH) on 4 March 2014. It conforms to NH standards for a two-lane traffic highway from Adoor to Plapally. The section past Plapally is only 4 meters wide and passes through forest and wildlife areas. The Forest Department raised concerns over the road's alignment. Once upgraded, a new connection from Vandiperiyar to Sabarimala is planned. Currently the stretch between Angamoozhy Forest Checkpost and Vallakadavu Forest Checkpost is entry restricted and the forest department allows only 30 private vehicles per day on the route and vehicles entering through Kochandi Check post has to leave only through Vallakkadavu Check post before 6 pm. Vallicode (pronounced valli-koad) is a village in Pathanamthitta district in Kerala, India. It is situated at about 7 km from the district headquarters of Pathanamthitta at south-east direction. Geography The northern and southern sides of the village are protected by tall hills and a valley emerges in between the hills. The valley, decorated by tall trees and green vegetation descends to the paddy fields at the centre, which is watered by the stream originating from the hills, flowing through the heart of the village, like a life-line and reaches the Achankovil River. Achenkovil
Achankovil is a 128 km long west flowing river in Kerala, India, which flows through Kollam, Pathanamthitta, and Alappuzha districts. The river drains vast tract of fertile plains of Upper Kuttanad in the Alappuzha and Pathanamthitta districts. It also sustains numerous urban settlements along its course such as Konni, Pathanamthitta, Pandalam, Mavelikkara etc. Course The river has its origin in the peak ''Devar Mala'' of the Western Ghats situated in the Konni Reserve Forest. Adoor (sometimes spelled ''Adur'') is a Municipality in Pathanamthitta district of Kerala State, India. It is the headquarters of Adoor Taluk and Adoor Revenue Division. Etymology Adoor (Ad-oor) in Malayalam translates as "Ad" means "separated" (adarnu) and "oor" means "place" or "land". So it means "adarnu kittiya ooru" in Malayalam and in English it means "An obtained separated land". History The history of Adoor is directly connected to the history of Kollam district.
