Thazhoor Bhagavathy Kshetram
Thazhoor Bhagavathy Kshetram, ( ml, താഴൂര് ഭഗവതി ക്ഷേത്രം) is a 300-year-old Hindu temple on the banks of the Achankovil river in Vazhamuttom, Pathanamthitta District in Kerala. Medam
The Malayalam Calendar is a sidereal solar calendar used in Kerala. The origin of the calendar has been dated to 825 CE, the beginning of the Kollam Era. There are many theories regarding the origin of the era, but according to recent scholarship, it commemorated the foundation of Kollam after the liberation of the southern Chera kingdom (known as Venadu) from the Chola dynasty's rule by or with the assistance of the Chera emperor at Kodungallur. Orippurathu Bhagavathy Temple (Malayalam: ഒരിപ്പുറത്തു ഭഗവതി ക്ഷേത്രം) is a 1200 year old ancient Hindu temple in Thattayil, near Pandalam in Kerala. Omalloor is a small town, about 3.5 km south of Pathanamthitta District headquarters, in Kerala. Achankovil
Achankovil is a 128 km long west flowing river in Kerala, India, which flows through Kollam, Pathanamthitta, and Alappuzha districts. The river drains vast tract of fertile plains of Upper Kuttanad in the Alappuzha and Pathanamthitta districts. It also sustains numerous urban settlements along its course such as Konni, Pathanamthitta, Pandalam, Mavelikkara etc. Course The river has its origin in the peak '' Devar Mala'' of the Western Ghats situated in the Konni Reserve Forest. Rivers like Rishimala, Pashukidamettu and Ramakkaltheri form the major tributaries of the Achenkovil river. It flows south west from its origin and enters Kollam district near Achencovil village. Sree Bhuvaneswary Temple, Valamchuzy is one of the oldest temples in Pathanamthitta, South India. Location This temple is located with the geographic coordinates of at an altitude of about 49.38 m above the mean sea level. The temple is from the city centre. Sree Bhuvaneswary Temple is surrounded by the sacred river Achankovil, which has its origin in the Achankovil mountain ranges. The name "Valamchuzy" is derived from the fact that the river circumvents the temple on three sides. Due to the action of the river over the past 3,000 years, large tracts of land belonging to the temple have been washed away. The temple presently is well protected from floods. Vallicode (pronounced valli-koad) is a village in Pathanamthitta district in Kerala, India. It is situated at about 7 km from the district headquarters of Pathanamthitta at south-east direction. Geography The northern and southern sides of the village are protected by tall hills and a valley emerges in between the hills. The valley, decorated by tall trees and green vegetation descends to the paddy fields at the centre, which is watered by the stream originating from the hills, flowing through the heart of the village, like a life-line and reaches the Achankovil River.
