Kaare Filseth
Kaare Krabbe Filseth (24 April 1901 – 19 September 1944) was a Norwegian newspaper editor who was killed during the occupation of Norway by Nazi Germany. Biography He was born in Lillehammer. His father Johan Filseth (1862–1927) hailed from Romedal and his mother Laura Krabbe (1879–1969) from Copenhagen, Denmark. After taking his examen artium he was hired as sub-editor for the newspaper ''Gudbrandsdølen'' in 1920. His father was a former editor-in-chief of that newspaper. Kaare Filseth remained in his position until 1931, except for a year from 1923 to 1924, when he worked as a secretary for the League of Nations information department in Geneva. In 1934 in Oslo he married a woman from Hønefoss. They had one child. In 1938 Filseth became editor-in-chief of the Hønefoss-based newspaper ''Ringerikes Blad''. Occupation Of Norway By Nazi Germany
The occupation of Norway by Nazi Germany during the Second World War began on 9 April 1940 after Operation Weserübung. Conventional armed resistance to the German invasion ended on 10 June 1940, and Nazi Germany controlled Norway until the capitulation of German forces in Europe on 8 May 1945. Throughout this period, a pro-German government named Den nasjonale regjering (English: the National Government) ruled Norway, while the Norwegian king Haakon VII and the prewar government escaped to London, where they formed a government in exile. Civil rule was effectively assumed by the ''Reichskommissariat Norwegen'' (Reich Commissariat of Norway), which acted in collaboration with the pro-German puppet government. Statspolitiet
(; shortened STAPO) was from 1941 to 1945 a National Socialist armed police force that consisted of Norwegian officials after Nazi German pattern. It operated independently of the ordinary Norwegian police. The force was established on 1 June 1941 during the German occupation of Norway. The initiative for the force came from the later chief Karl Marthinsen and other prominent members of the collaborationist party Nasjonal Samling. At its peak, in 1944 there were 350 employees in Statspolitiet, in addition to a larger number who collaborated or rendered services for them. Tyge Filseth
Tyge Krabbe Filseth (1913 – 2 September 2002) was a Norwegian marketing agent, known for co-founding two research institutions related to advertising. He was a son of Johan Filseth, the 1894 founder and editor-in-chief of newspaper ''Gudbrandsdølen''. His brother Kaare Filseth was the editor-in-chief of ''Ringerikes Blad'' from 1938 to his death in 1944. His sister Tove Filseth was a journalist, and was married to Silesian Jewish writer Max Tau from May 1944 to his death in 1976 and physician Haakon Natvig from 1988 to her death in 1994. His wife's uncle was Nikolai Astrup. He graduated from Copenhagen Business School in 1934, and worked in the advertising agencies Fabritius and B.A.B. before being hired at the newly established Norwegian School of Economics and Business Administration in 1936. Carl Ferdinand Gjerdrum (9 April 1898 – 9 February 1945) was a Norwegian jurist and resistance member. He was born in Kristiania as a son of Albert Gjerdrum and Olivia Kloumann. He was a grandson of Carl Ferdinand Gjerdrum, grandnephew of Jørgen Gjerdrum and Otto Gjerdrum and great-grandson of Ole Gjerdrum. In 1926 in Lillehammer he married Aase Filseth, of Danish descent, a sister of Tyge and Kaare Filseth. By occupation Carl Ferdinand Gjerdrum was a barrister, a lawyer with access to Supreme Court cases, like his father. The law firm was named ''A. Gjerdrum og C. F. Gjerdrum'', and had its offices in the Oslo's main street Karl Johans gate. Max Tau
Max Tau was a German-Norwegian writer, editor, and publisher. Life Tau grew up in an environment characterized by what he later termed the "Jewish-German" symbiosis, in a Jewish household heavily influenced by the Jewish enlightenment. He studied literature, art history, philosophy, and psychology at universities in Berlin, Hamburg, and Kiel. He earned his doctorate at the University of Kiel, defending a dissertation on the German writer Theodor Fontane. With the assistance of Mildred Fish Harnack, an American active in the Red Orchestra anti-Nazi resistance group, Tau emigrated to Norway in 1935. During the Nazi-German occupation of Norway, he was a refugee in Sweden and returned to Norway after the war. He was noted for his contribution to promoting literary exchange between Germany and Norway, especially in the context of reconciliation after World War II.
