Carl Ferdinand Gjerdrum (barrister)
Carl Ferdinand Gjerdrum (9 April 1898 – 9 February 1945) was a Norwegian jurist and resistance member. He was born in Kristiania as a son of Albert Gjerdrum and Olivia Kloumann. He was a grandson of Carl Ferdinand Gjerdrum, grandnephew of Jørgen Gjerdrum and Otto Gjerdrum and great-grandson of Ole Gjerdrum. In 1926 in Lillehammer he married Aase Filseth, of Danish descent, a sister of Tyge and Kaare Filseth. By occupation Carl Ferdinand Gjerdrum was a barrister, a lawyer with access to Supreme Court cases, like his father. The law firm was named ''A. Gjerdrum og C. F. Gjerdrum'', and had its offices in the Oslo's main street Karl Johans gate. During the occupation of Norway by Nazi Germany he was involved in a broad spectrum of work for the Norwegian resistance movement. Carl Ferdinand Gjerdrum
Carl Ferdinand Gjerdrum (21 August 1821 – 3 August 1902) was a Norwegian jurist, businessperson and royal chamberlain. He was a son of Ole Gjerdrum and Mette Alette Christine Krohn. He was the brother of Jørgen and Otto Gjerdrum. He was the father of Albert Gjerdrum. Through his sister Alette Jørgine Constanse Gjerdrum (1833-1891), he was a brother-in-law of dean Halfdan Einar Sommerfelt (1830-1901) . He finished his secondary education in 1840 and took the cand.jur. degree in 1844. He was an attorney from 1861. From 1854 to 1866, he was the agent-general in Norway for the Swedish insurance company Skandia. Together with Jacob Thurmann Ihlen, he was a founder of the insurance company Forsikringsselskapet Norden and was the company's chief executive from 1867 to 1897. Karl Marthinsen
Karl Alfred Nicolai Marthinsen (sometimes spelled Karl ''Martinsen'') (25 October 1896 – 8 February 1945) was the Norway, Norwegian commander of Statspolitiet and Sikkerhetspolitiet in Norway during the Occupation of Norway by Nazi Germany, Nazi occupation during World War II. Biography Marthinsen enlisted in the Norwegian Army toward the end of World War I and finished his training as a non-commissioned officer in 1918 and was promoted to sergeant in 1919. After his military service, he most likely served as a sailor until 1928, when he re-enlisted in the army. He was assigned to duties in the border regions between Norway and the Soviet Union and was an intelligence officer in Finnmark during the Winter War, monitoring suspected Communist sympathizers. Akershus Fortress
Akershus Fortress ( no, Akershus Festning, ) or Akershus Castle ( no, Akershus slott ) is a medieval castle in the Norwegian capital Oslo that was built to protect and provide a royal residence for the city. Since the Middle Ages the fortress has been the namesake and centre of the main fief and later main county of Akershus, which was originally one of Norway's four main regions and which included most of Eastern Norway. The fortress itself was located within the Akershus main county until 1919, and also within the smaller Akershus sub county until 1842. The castle has also been used as a military base, a prison and is currently the temporary office of the Prime minister of Norway. Reprisal
A reprisal is a limited and deliberate violation of international law to punish another sovereign state that has already broken them. Since the 1977 Additional Protocol I to the Geneva Conventions (AP 1), reprisals in the laws of war are extremely limited, as they commonly breach the rights of non-combatants. Jon Vislie
Jon Asbjørn Vislie (8 October 1896 – 9 February 1945) was a Norwegian lawyer who was executed during the occupation of Norway by Nazi Germany. He was born in Kristiania as the son of educationalist and writer Vetle Vislie and his Scanian wife Gerda, née Annerlöv. Jon Vislie married and had two children, and the family had settled in Bærum. Vislie had taken an education in law, and was a barrister with access to Supreme Court cases. When World War II reached Norway in 1940, Vislie eventually became an economic supporter of the Norwegian resistance movement. He also helped refugees. When the Nazi police leader Karl Marthinsen was assassinated by the Norwegian resistance on 8 February 1945, Vislie was arrested together with thirty-three others, including Carl Ferdinand Gjerdrum, Haakon Sæthre and Kaare Sundby, as a reprisal.
