KSL Capital Partners is a Private-equity firm based in Denver, Colorado specializing in travel and leisure investments. Many of the investments have involved Colorado ski resorts. Since its founding in 2005, the firm has raised more than $13 billion. The company traces is roots to 1992 with the founding of KSL Recreation by Kohlberg Kravis Roberts (in particular Henry Kravis), Mike Shannon and Larry Lichliter, all of whom had investments in the ski resorts in the Vail, Colorado area. KSL Recreation became KSL Resorts, owning Grand Wailea Resort, La Quinta Resort, Doral Golf Resort, Arizona Biltmore Hotel, Claremont Resort, and Lake Lanier Islands KSL Resorts was sold to CNL Hospitality in 2004. The Omni Grove Park is a historical resort hotel on the western-facing slope of Sunset Mountain within the Blue Ridge Mountains, in Asheville, North Carolina. Whistler Blackcomb is a ski resort located in Whistler, British Columbia, Canada. By many measures it is the largest ski resort in North America and has the greatest uphill lift capacity. It features the Peak 2 Peak Gondola for moving between Whistler and Blackcomb mountains at the top. With all of this capacity, Whistler Blackcomb is also often the busiest ski resort, often surpassing 2 million visitors a year. Palisades Tahoe is a ski resort in the western United States, located in Olympic Valley, California, northwest of Tahoe City in the Sierra Nevada range. The Belfry
The Belfry is a golf resort and hotel in Wishaw, Warwickshire, close to Sutton Coldfield, England, located approximately 8 miles from the centre of Birmingham. It was acquired by KSL Capital Partners in August 2012. The resort has three golf courses. The Brabazon Course is the main tournament course, and the others are the PGA National and The Derby.
