Københavns Møllestensfabrik og Møllebyggeri was a company specializing in construction of windmills and watermills as well as the manufacturing of mill stones. History Københavns Møllestensfabrik was founded by Ferdinand Jensen (1844-1898) on 10 November 1868. The company was located on Toldbodvej (now Esplanaden). Jensen had recently returned from Germany and France where he had worked for some of the leading manufacturers of mill stones. The French mill stones were very sought after in Denmark at the time. The company was represented and won medals at a number of international exhibitions: 1879 (Berlin), 1880 (Malmø), 1888 (København), 1896 (Malmø), 1897 (Stockholm). The growing company soon relocated to new and larger premises on Norgesgade (now Bredgade). Mill Stone
Millstones or mill stones are stones used in gristmills, for grinding wheat or other grains. They are sometimes referred to as grindstones or grinding stones. Millstones come in pairs: a convex stationary base known as the ''bedstone'' and a concave ''runner stone'' that rotates. The movement of the runner on top of the bedstone creates a "scissoring" action that grinds grain trapped between the stones. Millstones are constructed so that their shape and configuration help to channel ground flour to the outer edges of the mechanism for collection. The runner stone is supported by a cross-shaped metal piece (millrind or rynd) fixed to a "mace head" topping the main shaft or spindle leading to the driving mechanism of the mill (wind, water (including tide) or other means). Esplanaden (English: The Esplanade) is a street in Copenhagen, Denmark. It extends eastwards from Store Kongensgade and runs along the south side of the city's 17th-century fortress Kastellet and Churchillparken until it reaches the waterfront at Nordre Toldbod, just south of Langelinie, passing Amaliegade, Bredgade and Grønningen on the way. Bredgade
Bredgade ( lit. "Broad Street") is one of the most prominent streets in Copenhagen, Denmark. Running in a straight line from Kongens Nytorv for just under one kilometre to the intersection of Esplanaden and Grønningen, it is one of the major streets in Frederiksstaden, a Rococo district laid out in the middle of the 18th century to commemorate the tercentenary of the House of Oldenburg's accession to the Danish throne. Vodroffsvej is a street in the Frederiksberg district of Copenhagen, Denmark. It follows the western shore of The Lakes Copenahgen, St. Jørgen's Lake, linking Gammel Kongevej in the south with Rosenørns Allé in the north. The embankment and lakeside path on the east side of the street is called Svineryggen (English: The Hog's Back). Frederiksberg () is a part of the Capital Region of Denmark. It is formally an independent municipality, Frederiksberg Municipality, separate from Copenhagen Municipality, but both are a part of the City of Copenhagen. Rentemestervej is an approximately 1.4 km long street in the North-West district of Copenhagen, Denmark. It runs from Lygten at Nørrebro station in the southeast to Utterslev Torv in the northwest.
