Kája Saudek
Kája Saudek (born Karel Saudek; 13 May 1935 – 26 June 2015) was a Czechs, Czech comics illustrator and graphic artist. He was considered one of the best artists of Czech comics.#Malá, Malá (2004), p. 268. He has been called the "King of Czech comic books". His twin brother Jan Saudek is an internationally known photographer and painter. Biography Karel and Jan Saudek were born in Prague in 1935, twin sons of Gustav Saudek, who was Jewish, and his Czech wife. Both of their families originated in Bohemia; Gustav was born in Děčín. After the Nazis invaded Czechoslovakia during World War II, the family was subject to the racial persecution by the Nazis. American Comic Book
An American comic book is a thin periodical originating in the United States, on average 32 pages, containing comics. While the form originated in 1933, American comic books first gained popularity after the 1938 publication of ''Action Comics'', which included the debut of the superhero Superman. This was followed by a superhero boom that lasted until the end of World War II. After the war, while superheroes were marginalized, the comic book industry rapidly expanded and genres such as horror, crime, science fiction and romance became popular. ''Hospodářské noviny'' (English: "Economic Newspaper") is a daily newspaper published nationally in the Czech Republic. History and profile ''Hospodářské noviny'' was first published on 21 May 1990. Muriel A Andělé
''Muriel a andělé'' (''Muriel and Angels'') is a comic album written by Miloš Macourek and drawn by Kája Saudek, originally created in the late 1960s and published in 1991. The album is considered one of the masterworks of Czech comics; it was voted the best Czech comic in a poll held by the newspaper ''Mladá fronta DNES'' in 2009. ''Muriel and Angels'' tells the story of a young physician Muriel Ray and her friend Ro, a winged angel who came to Earth from a distant future. The main character was inspired by the Czech film star Olga Schoberová, and the main antagonist, militant general Ian Xeron, was inspired by Saudek's twin brother, photographer Jan Saudek. Ondřej Neff (born June 26, 1945, Prague) is a Czech science fiction writer and journalist. He is the founder o''Neviditelný pes''(''The Invisible Dog''), one of the earliest and most popular Czech daily news/comments websites, an''Digineff'' a website about digital photography for amateurs. His father Vladimír Neff was a popular writer, author of many historical novels. Neff had two children with his first wife: a son, David, born in 1970, who works as a photographer for Mladá fronta DNES and a singer; and a daughter named Irena, born in 1979, murdered by her husband on 23 February 2008. Jaroslav Foglar
Jaroslav Foglar (6 July 1907 – 23 January 1999) was a Czechoslovak writer who wrote many novels about youths (partly also about Boy Scouts movement) and their adventures in nature and dark city streets. His signature series is ''Rychlé šípy'', which was adapted into comics by Jan Fischer. Early life Foglar was born in 1907 and grew up in Prague. Because his father died prematurely he was brought up in rather poor material conditions by his mother. To earn some extra money young Slavik used to copy the popular detective stories, '' cliftonky'', earning 20 heller per copy. ''Who Wants to Kill Jessie?'' ( cs, Kdo chce zabít Jessii?) is a 1966 Czechoslovak science fiction comedy film directed by Václav Vorlíček. The story focuses on a couple who use a machine which can bring objects and people from dreams to the real world. The main plot includes the accidental release of the comics character Jessie into the real world, and the film features many gags about the clash between the real world, and comics imagery such as word balloons and sound effects. Miloš Macourek (2 December 1926, Kroměříž – 30 September 2002, Prague) was a Czech poet, playwright, author and screenwriter. Biography During his career, Macourek worked in various professions. From 1953 to 1960, he was a teacher of the art history; later he worked as a dramaturgist at the Barrandov Film Studios. He created children's books, TV series and film comedies. Olga Schoberová, also known as Olinka Bérová (born March 15, 1943), is a Czech-American actress. She acted in Czech, German, Italian, Austrian, Polish, English, and American movies. As "Olinka Berova", she appeared in ''The Vengeance of She'' (1968), and several more films. Schoberová has been compared to Brigitte Bardot and Ursula Andress.
