Kywong, New South Wales
Kywong is a rural place within the locality of Sandigo in the Riverina region of New South Wales, Australia. It is situated on the Sturt Highway, 520 kilometres south west of the state capital, Sydney and 64 kilometres west of Wagga Wagga. The Kywong Football Club competed in the Faithful & District Football Association in 1922 & 1923. They then went into recess from 1924 to 1931, then returned to play in the Faithful & DFA from 1932 - 1935. Kywong defeated Greenvale in the 1934 grand final played at Boree Creek, with over 200 people attending a premiership ball at the Sandigo Hall. The club folded after the 1935 season. Sturt Highway
Sturt Highway is an Australian national highway in New South Wales, Victoria, and South Australia. It is an important road link for the transport of passengers and freight between Sydney and Adelaide and the regions situated adjacent to the route. Initially an amalgam of trunk routes, the Sturt Highway was proclaimed a state highway in 1933. AWB Limited was a major grain marketing organisation based in Australia. The Main Southern Railway is a major railway in New South Wales, Australia. It runs from Sydney to Albury, near the Victorian border. The line passes through the Southern Highlands, Southern Tablelands, South West Slopes and Riverina regions. Description of route The Main Southern Railway commences as an electrified pair of tracks in the Sydney metropolitan area. Since 1924, the line branches from the Main Suburban railway line at Lidcombe and runs via Regents Park to Cabramatta, where it rejoins the original route from Granville. The line then heads towards Campbelltown and Macarthur, the current limit of electrification and suburban passenger services. Kywong Railway Line
The Kywong railway line is a closed branch railway line in New South Wales, Australia, in length. Sandigo is a locality situated on Sandy Creek in the central part of the Riverina. It is situated along the Sturt Highway, about north west of Kywong and south east of Narrandera. At the , Sandigo had a population of 84 people. Hazelnut Farming Sandigo is home to a hazelnut farming enterprise, led by the ''Agri Australis Pty Ltd'' company (owned by parent company Ferrero). The land was purchased by Ferrero in 2011, seenvh dtszhgi jnogu&se as a suitable choice for hazelnut farming due to appropriate soil type and water availability. Greenvale is a rural community in the central east part of the Riverina. It is situated by road, about 8 kilometres south from Birrego and 12 kilometres north west from Boree Creek. Greenvale Post Office opened on 1 July 1904 and closed in 1920. The Greenvale Football Club (Green & Gold colours) played in the Faithful & District Football Association from 1920 to 1939. Between 1929 and 1936, the Greenvale FC played in eight consecutive grand finals and all up played in 15 grand finals for eight Faithful & DFA premierships. In 1936, a league best and fairest medal was awarded to Leo Foley from the Greenvale FC, who also kicked eight goals in their grand final victory.
