Kyivskyi District, Kharkiv
Kyivskyi District ( uk, Київський район) is an urban district of the city of Kharkiv, Ukraine, named after the capital city of Ukraine, Kyiv. It is the biggest raion of the city and one of the oldest. The district was created in 1937 when Petynsko-Zhuravlivskyi District was split into Kahanovychskyi and Stalinskyi districts. In 1957 Kahanovchskyi District was renamed Kyivskyi District. Raions Of Cities In Ukraine
Urban raions or urban districts ( uk, райони у містах України, translit=raiony u mistakh Ukrainy) are the second-level administrative division in certain cities in Ukraine. An urban district is subordinate to the city administration. Overview There are 111 districts in 19 cities of Ukraine. The cities that contain district division in a city usually are of national (such as Kyiv and Sevastopol) or regional significance. The number of districts in city per region varies between the minimum of two and up to 21 in Donetsk Oblast (the maximum districts in a single city are in Kyiv). The Article 133 of the Constitution of Ukraine states that districts in cities are element of the administrative-territorial division of state, while the Article 140 states that issues in organization of management of districts in cities belongs to the competence of city's councils. Nikolay Yegorovich Zhukovsky ( rus, Никола́й Его́рович Жуко́вский, p=ʐʊˈkofskʲɪj; – March 17, 1921) was a Russian scientist, mathematician and engineer, and a founding father of modern aero- and hydrodynamics. Whereas contemporary scientists scoffed at the idea of human flight, Zhukovsky was the first to undertake the study of airflow. He is often called the ''Father of Russian Aviation''. The Joukowsky transform is named after him, while the fundamental aerodynamical theorem, the Kutta–Joukowski theorem, is named after both him and German mathematician Martin Kutta. Life Zhukovsky was born in the village of Orekhovo, Vladimir Governorate, Russian Empire. In 1868, he graduated from Moscow University where he studied under August Davidov. Piatykhatky, Kharkiv Oblast
Piatykhatky ( uk, П'ятихатки; russian: Пятихатки en, Fivehouses) is a neighborhood of Kharkiv, Ukraine, former khutir. The neighborhood is part of the Kyivskyi District of Kharkiv city. In the 1950s it became part Kharkiv City. With construction of the Kharkiv Institute of Physics and Technology "New Matter", Piatyhatky became incorporated into the city. Burials and memorial complex in Lisopark The Burial site was located in a forest reserve about 5 km from the outskirts of Kharkiv (currently within the city limits and known as Lisopark neighborhood). Industrialnyi District, Kharkiv
Industrialnyi District ( uk, Індустріальний район) is an urban district of the city of Kharkiv, Ukraine, named after its industrial hub built in 1930s at its city's eastern outskirts. It was originally developed as a "socialist city" (''sotsgorod'') to house the workers of the newly built Kharkiv Tractor Plant (KhTZ). In 1936 the district was named Ordzhonikidzevskyi after Sergo Ordzhonikidze, Stalin's commissar for heavy industry. On 24 October 1941, after a four-day battle, Kharkiv and the district was occupied by German forces. In advance of the Germans, most the industrial plant, including the KhTZ, has been dismantled and moved east or rendered inoperative. On 14 December, the German ''Stadtkommandant'' ordered the Jewish population to be concentrated in a hut settlement near the KhTZ. In two days, 20,000 Jews were gathered there.
