The Kyiv Open is a professional tennis tournament played on clay courts. It is currently part of the ATP Challenger Tour. The tournament was held annually in Kyiv, Ukraine from 1995 to 2005. After 15 years of break, the tournament returned in 2021. History The Kyiv Open in the status of ATP Challenger competitions was held from 1998 to 2005. During this time, such world tennis stars as Nicolás Almagro, Fernando Verdasco, Marc Rosset, Irakli Labadze, Nenad Zimonjić, Jan Kroshlyak took part in it. Sergei Yaroshenko (born 6 April 1977) is a Ukrainian former professional tennis player. Yaroshenko, a left-handed player from Nova Kakhovka, reached a best singles world ranking of 356 and was a member of the Ukraine Davis Cup team between 1996 and 2005. Clay Court Tennis Tournaments
Clay is a type of fine-grained natural soil material containing clay minerals (hydrous aluminium phyllosilicates, e.g. kaolin, Al2 Si2 O5( OH)4). Sergiy Stakhovsky
Sergiy Eduardovych Stakhovsky ( uk, Сергій Едуардович Стаховський, ; born January 6, 1986) is a Ukrainian former professional tennis player. Stakhovsky turned professional in 2003 and played mostly at the Challenger level from 2005 to 2008. His career-high rankings were World No. 31 in singles (September 2010) and No. 33 in doubles (June 2011). Stakhovsky won his first career title in March 2008, as a lucky loser ranked no. 209, defeating top seed Ivan Ljubičić in the final, thus becoming the first lucky loser to win a title since Christian Miniussi in 1991. Denys Petrovych Molchanov ( uk, Денис Петрович Молчанов; born 16 May 1987) is a Ukrainian tennis player playing on the ATP Challenger Tour winning 15 singles and 62 doubles titles. Mikhail Filima
Mikhail Filima (born 17 November 1982) is a Ukrainian tennis coach and professional player. Biography Born in Kyiv, Filima was a right-handed player and featured in five Davis Cup ties for Ukraine across 2004 and 2005. His Davis Cup career included a singles win over Jan Frode Andersen, where he came from two sets down to defeat his better ranked Norwegian opponent and secure the tie for Ukraine. Filima played briefly at ATP Challenger level, with his best singles performance a semi-final appearance at Donetsk in 2005. At the same tournament he partnered with Davis Cup teammate Orest Tereshchuk to win the doubles event. He won a further seven doubles tournament on the ITF circuit.
