Kvikne
Kvikne is a former municipality that was part of the old Hedmark county, Norway. The municipality of Kvikne existed from 1838 until its dissolution in 1966 when it was split between the present-day municipalities of Tynset (in what is now Innlandet county) and Rennebu (in what is now Trøndelag county). The administrative centre of the municipality was the village of Kvikne where Kvikne Church is located. Copper mining and soapstone quarries were historically significant industries in the municipality. Name The Old Norse form of the name was (probably) which means "living", possibly referring to the quick clay in the area. Kvikne Church
Kvikne Church ( no, Kvikne kyrkje) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Nord-Fron Municipality in Innlandet county, Norway. It is located in the village of Kvikne. It is the church for the Kvikne parish which is part of the Nord-Gudbrandsdal prosti ( deanery) in the Diocese of Hamar. The brown, wooden church was built in a cruciform design in 1764 using plans drawn up by the architect Per Korpberget. The church seats about 160 people. The church cemetery has many old soapstone grave markers, several of which have been gathered under an awning. The church can be reached via Norwegian County Road 255. History The first church in Kvikne was a wooden stave church that was likely built during the 14th century. This church was located at Sylte, about to the southeast of the present church site. Kvikne Church ( no, Kvikne kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Tynset Municipality in Innlandet county, Norway. It is located in the village of Yset. It is the church for the Kvikne parish which is part of the Nord-Østerdal prosti ( deanery) in the Diocese of Hamar. The brown, wooden church was built in a cruciform design in 1654 using plans drawn up by the architect Knut Mortensen. The church seats about 200 people. History The earliest existing historical records of the church date back to the year 1570, but the church was not new that year. The first church in Kvikne was a wooden stave church that was possibly built during the 13th century (a crucifix in the church has been dated to that time period, so it's possible that is when the church was first constructed). The list of churches in Hamar is a list of the Church of Norway churches in the Diocese of Hamar which includes all of Innlandet county (plus two municipalities in Viken (county), Viken county) in Norway. Yset
Yset or Kvikne is a village in Tynset Municipality in Innlandet county, Norway. The mountain village is located near the mountain pass that lies between the large Østerdalen valley and Trøndelag county. The village is located along the Orkla River at the confluence with the Ya River about southeast of the village of Innset and about northwest of the village of Tynset. Innset Church
Innset Church ( no, Innset kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Rennebu municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. It is located in the village of Innset. It is the church for the Innset parish which is part of the Gauldal prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Nidaros. The church was built in a cruciform style in 2000 using plans drawn up by the architect Kjell Kvernaas. The church has a natural wood exterior and it seats about 300 people. Innset church is a popular church for concerts. History Innset was originally part of Kvikne municipality in Hedmark county. A copper mine was built in the area during the 17th century. Hedmark
Hedmark () was a county in Norway before 1 January 2020, bordering Trøndelag to the north, Oppland to the west, Akershus to the south, and Sweden to the east. The county administration is in Hamar. Hedmark and Oppland counties were merged into Innlandet county on 1 January 2020, when Norway's former 19 counties became 10 bigger counties / regions Hedmark made up the northeastern part of Østlandet, the southeastern part of the country. () is the name for Norwegian local self-government districts that were legally enacted on 1 January 1838. This system of municipalities was created in a bill approved by the Parliament of Norway and signed into law by King Carl Johan on 14 January 1837. The ''formannskaps'' law, which fulfilled an express requirement of the Constitution of Norway, required that every parish ( no, prestegjeld) form a ''formannsskapsdistrikt'' (municipality) on 1 January 1838. List Of Former Municipalities Of Norway
This is a list of former municipalities of Norway, i.e. municipalities that no longer exist. When the local council system was introduced in Norway in 1837-38, the country had 392 municipalities. In 1958 the number had grown to a total of 744 rural municipalities, 64 city municipalities as well as a small number of small seaports with '' ladested'' status. A committee led by Nikolai Schei, formed in 1946 to examine the situation, proposed hundreds of mergers to reduce the number of municipalities and improve the quality of local administration. Most of the mergers were carried out, albeit to significant popular protest. As of January 2006 there are 431 municipalities in Norway, and there are plans for further mergers and political pressure to do so.
