''Kveldssanger'' (translated as ''"Twilight Songs"'') is the second studio album by Norwegian band Ulver, issued in March 1996 via Head Not Found. The album was recorded at Endless Lydstudio, Oslo, Norway in the summer and autumn of 1995, with Kristian Romsøe as engineer and co-producer. Background For ''Kveldssanger'', the second part of what has become known as Ulver’s “'' Black Metal Trilogie'',” the band expanded upon the quiet, folk-influenced acoustic elements present in their debut album, '' Bergtatt''. Incorporating classical guitars, cello and choral chamber chants overlaid with subtle orchestral landscapes - eschewing any black metal elements - the album was a drastic contrast to ''Bergtatt'' and other black metal albums of the time, whilst still retaining a level of atmospheric and folklore-themed lyrics. Kristoffer Rygg
Kristoffer Rygg (born 9 September 1976), also known as Garm, Trickster G. Rex and God Head, is a heavy-metal vocalist, musician and producer known primarily for his work with Ulver, Arcturus, and Borknagar. Biography Born in Oslo but raised in Cascais, Kristoffer Rygg was 16 years old when he formed Ulver, considered one of the most iconic bands from the Norwegian black metal scene. He was an instrumental instigator for later subcategories such as avant-garde metal. In addition, he was vocalist for Borknagar (1995–1997) and Arcturus (1993–2003), both of which comprise many eminent musicians from the early Norwegian black metal scene. Håvard Jørgensen
Håvard Jørgensen (born 26 September 1975), also known as Haavard, Lemarchand, is a songwriter, guitarist and vocalist. He was the original guitarist of the Norwegian black metal bands Satyricon and Ulver. Career Satyricon One of the initiators of the band Eczema (which later on became Satyricon) which started up in 1991. Eczema won (as the first death metal-act) the Oslo Championship of Rock in 1992 – and changed thereafter the name to Satyricon. Empyrium
Empyrium is a German symphonic folk/ doom metal and (later) neofolk/ dark folk band. History Empyrium was founded in 1994 by Markus Stock (mostly using the pseudonym Ulf Theodor Schwadorf) and Andreas Bach, but later many other musicians participated. The band draws inspiration from nature. Neofolk
Neofolk, also known as apocalyptic folk, is a form of experimental music blending elements of folk and industrial music, which emerged in punk rock circles in the 1980s. Neofolk may either be solely acoustic or combine acoustic folk instrumentation with various other sounds. Tania Stene (also Tanya Stene, Tanja Stene, Nacht, Nachthexe) is a Norwegian interdisciplinary artist. She works with different techniques such as oils/acrylics, photography, collage, video, sound and installation. Originally known as half of the ritual ambient duo Aghast (along with Andréa Nebel), her newer music is more experimental and noisy (collaboration with Alexei Borisov on Fabriksampler V2 - Pharmafabrik Recordings).
