Kuzhenkino (urban-type Settlement)
Kuzhenkino (russian: Куже́нкино) is an urban-type settlement in Bologovsky District of Tver Oblast, Russia, located on the north of the oblast, close to the border with Novgorod Oblast. Bologovsky District, with the administrative center in the town of Bologoye, was established within Borovichi Okrug of Leningrad Oblast effective October 1, 1927. Tver Oblast (russian: Тверска́я о́бласть, ''Tverskaya oblast'', ), from 1935 to 1990 known as Kalinin Oblast (), is a federal subject of Russia (an oblast). 2023 Wagner Group Plane Crash
On 23 August 2023, an Embraer Legacy 600 business jet with ten people crashed near Kuzhenkino (urban-type settlement), Kuzhenkino in Tver Oblast, approximately north of its departure point in Moscow. Among the victims were Yevgeny Prigozhin, Dmitry Utkin and Valery Chekalov, the key figures of the Wagner Group, a Government of Russia, Russian state-funded private military company. The crash prompted speculation that the jet was destroyed on the orders of Russian president Vladimir Putin, after Prigozhin had led the Wagner Group rebellion exactly two months prior. Tracking data from Flightradar24 showed unusual altitude variations followed by a "dramatic descent" shortly before the plane crashed. Visual evidence suggested structural failure of the aircraft. The M10 "Russia" (russian: "Россия") is a federal highway in Russia connecting the country's two largest cities, Moscow and Saint Petersburg. Andreapol (russian: Андреа́поль) is a town and the administrative center of Andreapolsky District in Tver Oblast, Russia, located on the Valdai Hills on the left bank in the upper course of the Western Dvina. Yevgeny Viktorovich Prigozhin (russian: link=no, Евгений Викторович Пригожин; born 1 June 1961) is a Russian oligarch and close confidant of Russian president Vladimir Putin. Dmitry Valerievich Utkin (russian: Дмитрий Валерьевич Уткин; born 11 June 1970) is a Russian army officer. He served as a special forces officer in the GRU, where he held a rank of lieutenant colonel. He is alleged to have founded the Wagner Group, with his own call-sign reportedly being ''Wagner''.
