Kutumba (band)
Kutumba is an instrumental folk Nepalese band. It only uses Nepalese traditional musical instruments such as bamboo flutes, sarangi, madal, tungna, dhol, jhyamta, arbajoo, dhime, dhyangro, damphu, khin, and singing bowl. The band recorded a single for season 6 of Coke Studio Pakistan, which aired in late 2013. They have collaborated with other Nepali artists such as Navneet Aditya Waiba, Satya Aditya Waiba, Albatross, Hari Maharjan, 1974 AD and Astha Tamang Maskey. They competed in the AI Song Contest 2021 alongside Diwas, Chepang, and Hari Maharjan with the song "Dreaming of Nepal", placing 17th with 15 points. Singing Bowl
A standing bell or resting bell is an inverted bell, supported from below with the rim uppermost. Such bells are normally bowl-shaped, and exist in a wide range of sizes, from a few centimetres to a metre in diameter. They are often played by striking, but some—known as singing bowls—may also be played by rotating a mallet around the outside rim to produce a sustained musical note. Nepathya ( ne, नेपथ्य, also spelled as Nepathaya) is a Nepalese folk rock band that was formed in the early 1990s by three students from Pokhara while studying in Kathmandu, Nepal. Nepathya was formed by Deepak Rana, Bhim Poon and Amrit Gurung. They started recording songs which after 25 years have made them the greatest band ever of Nepal. Nepathya is best known for blending folk melodies with modern western-influenced rock music. Nepathya has enjoyed both commercial and critical success. Project Sarangi (Nepali: प्रोजेक्ट सारंगी) is a Nepali foundation that is dedicated to the preservation and promotion of indigenous Nepali folk music craftsmanship. It provides tutorials in the playing of Nepali Sarangi and other Nepali folk instruments. Project Sarangi is based in Kathmandu, Nepal and was founded by sarangi player Kiran Nepali in 2012. ''Folk Roots'' is the second studio album by Nepali folk band Kutumba. It is contains instrumentals of old Nepali songs and Nepali folk songs which are covered, remastered and improvised by the band. ''Kutumba'' ( Family) is a 2003 Kannada-language action film starring Upendra and Natanya Singh. The film was directed by Naganna and produced by Shailendra Babu. Music for the film was scored by Gurukiran. It is the first among a series of successful films under Upendra — Naganna combination. The film also starred Ashok, Gurukiran, Advani Lakshmi Devi, Shwetha in supporting roles and B.C. Patil and Sathya Raj played the negative roles. The film is a remake of the 1991 Telugu film ''Gang Leader'' starring Chiranjeevi. The AI Song Contest 2021 was the second edition of the AI Song Contest, an international music competition for songs that have been composed using artificial intelligence (AI). The 2021 contest was independently organised by John Ashley Burgoyne, Ryan Groves, Anna Huang, Rujing Stacy Huang, Hendrik Vincent Koops, and Rebecca Leger, and it was supported by the technology hubs Wallifornia MusicTech, DeepMusic.ai, and Amsterdam Music Lab. The results of the competition were announced on 6 July 2021 at a virtual conference that was part of the four-day Music & Innovation Summit organised by Wallifornia MusicTech. Navneet Aditya Waiba is an Indian Nepali-language folk singer and the daughter of the late Hira Devi Waiba, the pioneer of Nepali folk music. Navneet and younger brother Satya Aditya Waiba (producer/manager) are the only artists in the Nepali folk music genre who sing and produce authentic traditional Nepali folk songs without adulteration or modernisation using mostly organic and traditional Nepali music instruments.
