Kunjunni Nambudiripad
Kunjunni (10 May 1927 - 26 March 2006), popularly known as Kunjunni Mash (''Mash'' is the Malayalam equivalent of teacher), was an Indian poet of Malayalam literature. Known for his short poems with a philosophical overtone, his works were popular among children as well as grown-ups. He received several honors including three awards from the Kerala Sahitya Akademi viz. Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award for Children's Literature, Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award for Poetry and Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award for Overall Contributions. Early life and career Kunjunni was born on 10 May 1927 at Valapad, a village in Thrissur district in the south Indian state of Kerala to Njayapilly Illathu ''Neelakantan Moosath'' and ''Athiyarathu Narayani Amma''. Kunjunni started his career as a teacher at the Chelari school. He joined Ramakrishna Mission Sevashrama High School in Kozhikode in 1953. Valapad
Valapad is a village situated in the Thrissur district in the state of Kerala in southern India. It is included in the Manappuram area, and is about 24 km from Thrissur city. It lies by the National Highway 66. The geographical advantage of this village is, in a radius of 25 to 30 kilometers, there are five municipalities and one city corporation. Sippy Pallippuram
Sippy Pallippuram is an Indian writer of children's literature in Malayalam who has won several awards including Kendra Sahitya Akademi Award and Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award. His novel about the memories of Kunjunni Mash ''Oridathoru Kunjunni'' won the national award for children's literature by Kendra Sahitya Akademi. His book ''Unnikalkku Noottiyettu Gurudeva Kathakal'' received the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award for Children's Literature in 2013. A teacher by profession, he has over 80 (as of 2008) poetries and stories to his credit in the children's category of Malayalam literature.
