Kun Kello Käy
Finland was represented by Kristina Hautala, with the song "Kun kello käy", at the 1968 Eurovision Song Contest, which took place on 6 April in London. Before Eurovision National final The Finnish Final was held on February 10 at the YLE TV Studios in Helsinki. It was hosted by Liisa Horelli. The winner was chosen by postcard voting where each voter awarded 5, 3 and 1 points to his three favorite songs. The results were announced on 2nd March. At Eurovision On the night of the final Kristina Hautala performed ninth in the running order, following Sweden and preceding France. The entry was conducted by Ossi Runne. At the close of voting, Finland picked up one point from Norway and placed joint last with the Netherlands of the 17 entries. Kristina Hautala
Kristina Hautala (born 28 June 1948, Stockholm) is a Swedish-Finnish former singer who rose to success in Finland in the late 1960s. Beginnings/ stardom Born in Stockholm of Finnish descent, Hautala was still living in her native city when she made her recording debut with "En koskaan", a Finnish rendering of "You Don't Have to Say You Love Me", recorded 24 May 1966. Entering the Finnish Top Ten in November 1966, "En koskaan" spent 11 weeks there, peaking at #6. Hautala resultantly became an in-demand television and live performer in Finland: she toured nationally in the summer of 1967 with Johnny and that autumn and winter she headlined with Lasse Mårtenson in a two-month engagement that set a new box-office record for the Café Adlon, Helsinki's premier entertainment venue. Juha Vainio
Juha Harri "Junnu" Vainio, also known as Juha "Watt" Vainio (10 May 1938 in Kotka, Finland – 29 October 1990, Gryon, Switzerland) was a Finnish lyricist, singer, composer and teacher. With the lyrics or music to over 2,400 songs to his name, Vainio is one of Finland's most prolific lyricists along with Sauvo Puhtila, Reino Helismaa and Vexi Salmi. Vainio enjoyed a short professional career as a teacher at Kymenranta Primary School. Vainio began writing songs in the early 1960s and continued until his death. Apart from his home town Kotka, he lived for several years in Helsinki and Espoo. In his last years Vainio lived in Gryon, Switzerland, where he died of a heart attack in October 1990. He is buried in the family grave in Helsinki. He was given the nickname "Watt" on account of a song on his first solo record, the 1964 ''Paras rautalankayhtye'' ("The Best Rautalanka Band"). 1968 Eurovision Song Contest
The Eurovision Song Contest 1968 was the 13th edition of the annual Eurovision Song Contest. It took place in London, United Kingdom, following the country's first victory at the with the song " Puppet on a String" by Sandie Shaw. Despite having won for the first time the year before, it was actually the third time that the United Kingdom had hosted the competition, having previously done so in and , both of which also took place in London. Organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and host broadcaster British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), the contest was held at Royal Albert Hall on 6 April 1968, and was hosted by Katie Boyle for the third time. Aarno Raninen
Aarno Raninen (27 April 1944 – 3 September 2014) was a Finnish singer, songwriter and musician. His main instrument was piano but he has also mastered violin, cello and accordion. Born in Kotka, Raninen began his musical studies at a young age. After he moved to Helsinki in 1966 he got a job as a studio conductor at Musiikki-Fazer. While working there he made a lot of cooperative work with the likes of songwriter Juha Vainio. Later on Raninen went to work in Discophon where he wrote lyrics for many Finnish musicians, such as Seija Simola, Carola, Tauno Palo, Vesa-Matti Loiri, Monica Aspelund, Heikki Kinnunen, Arja Koriseva, Erkki Liikanen and the Soitinmenot-ensemble. Rauno Väinämö Lehtinen (7 April 1932 in Tampere – 1 May 2006 in Helsinki) was a Finnish conductor and composer. He composed the 1960s hit '' Letkis'' which was based on a folk-dance.
