Kulai Municipal Council ( ms, Majlis Perbandaran Kulai, Jawi: مجليس ڤربندرن كولاي) is the local authority of Kulai District in Johor, Malaysia. It was formerly known as Kulai District Council ''(Majlis Daerah Kulai (MDKu)'' from 1 January 1976 until 20 April 2004. The district council was upgraded to the present-day municipal council on 21 April 2004. The council covers nine towns in Kulai District, namely: Kulai, Saleng, Senai, Seelong, Sengkang, Sedenak, Kelapa Sawit, Ayer Bemban and Bukit Batu. The local government in Malaysia is the lowest tier of government in Malaysia administered under the states and federal territories which in turn are beneath the federal tier. Bukit Batu
Bukit Batu is a ''mukim'' (subdivision) in Kulai District, Johor, Malaysia. Bukit Batu means "Hill of Rock" in Malay. Kulai Municipal Council administer the town. History The village's legend, about hundred years ago, the tiger Kalimantan conquered and chaos this area, and Chong successfully lead a group of villagers to stop and kill the tiger. During WW2, the Japanese conquered this village; with the help of Chong, the villagers survived and successfully stopped the Japanese coming into the village. Geography The mukim spans over an area of 86 km2. Demographics A mainly Hakka community, the majority of the villagers have the same surname, "Chong". The ''mukim'' has 14,147 people. Kelapa Sawit
Kelapa Sawit is a small town located along Jalan Kulai-Air Hitam Malaysian Federal Roads System route 1 in Kulai District, Johor, Malaysia. Kelapa Sawit means oil palm in Bahasa Malaysia. A mainly Hakka community which was formed back in the 1950s when the British; who were the colonial masters of Malaya moved tens of thousands of the ethnic Chinese people into New Towns like this during the Malayan Emergency. Many of the older generations still keep up with tradition and communicate using the Hakka dialect. Located next to the Sime Darby palm oil plantation, this was the origin of the town's name. It faced some problems of air pollution until the estate's oil palm mill was closed down. Villagers were mainly reliant on agriculture for a living. Before tax on pepper kicked in in the 1980s, Kelapa Sawit was the famous Pepper producing town. Sengkang (, ta, செங்காங்) is a planning area and residential town located in the North-East Region of Singapore.
