Kuddus Boyati
Abdul Kuddus Boyati (born 1947) is a Bangladeshi folk singer. He is often mentioned as ''Folk Superstar'' by Bangladeshi media. Early life Kuddus was born in 1947 at Rajibpur village, Kendua Upazila of Netrokona District during the time of the British Raj. Due to financial problem, he didn't have the opportunity to study and started music practice at the age of 11. Later, he came to Dhaka in search of work where he met Director Afzal Hossain and started his career by performing in the folk related music documentaries. Kendua ( bn, কেন্দুয়া) is an upazila of Netrokona District in the Division of Mymensingh, Bangladesh. Geography Kendua is located at . It has 51221 households and total area 303.6 km2. Netrokona ( bn, নেত্রকোণা) is a district of the Mymensingh Division in northern Bangladesh. Etymology The headquarters of Netrokona District was located at the end of the Mogra River and was called Natorkona. Many people believe that over a period of time, Natorkona became Netrakona. Geography Netrokona is situated in the northern part of Bangladesh, along the border with the Indian state of Meghalaya. Afzal Hossain (born 19 July 1954) is a Bangladeshi actor, director, writer and painter. Early life Hossain was born in Parulia, Satkhira in erstwhile East Bengal. His father, Ali Ashraf Hossain, was a medical officer. He has one brother Alfaz Hossain and sister Rumana Afroz. Hossain is married to Tazeen Halim Mona. Kangalini Sufia
Sufia Khatun (known as Kangalini Sufia; born 01 January 1961) is a Bangladeshi folk singer. Her real name is ''"Anita Halder"''. She performed as a playback singer for the films ''Darodi Shatru'', ''Agun'' and ''Raj Shinghashon''. Early life Sufia was born in 1948/49 in greater Faridpur to Khokon Halder and Tulu Halder. At the age of 14/15, she began singing at village functions. Around 1974, she converted to Islam and took on the name Sufia Khatun. Artist Mustafa Monwar christened her "Kangalini Sufia". Music Sufia mostly performs with a five-member troupe that includes Baul Jahangir, Baul Mander Fakir, Pushpo (Sufia's sister), Chumki Kangalini (Sufia's granddaughter) and Bilkis Banu. Abdur Rahman Boyati (1 January 1939 – 19 August 2013) was a Bangladeshi folk singer. He was also a lyricist, music composer, director and poet. He was awarded Ekushey Padak in 2015 by the Government of Bangladesh. He is most notable for the hits ''"Mon Amar Deho Ghori Sondhan Kori”'', ''"Ei Prithibi Jemon Ache, Temni Pore Robe"'' and ''"Din Gele Ar Din Pabi Na"''. Anusheh Anadil is a Bangladeshi musician, artist, cultural activist, and social entrepreneur. The band 'Bangla' was the first female lead band from Bangladesh that became iconically popular in both Bangladesh and West Bengal (India), for their first album ''Kingkortobbobimuro'' (2002). Their rendition of spiritual folk songs, along with their own original songs, became a revolution for bringing the sounds of the village bard into popular culture. They helped popularize the philosophy of Fakir Lalon Shai, as a breath of fresh air, to the urban youth. Bangla's second album ''Prottutponnomotitto'' (2005) is a tribute to Fakir Lalon Shai.
