Krištof Kintera
Krištof Kintera (born 20 September 1973 in Prague) is a Czech artist and sculptor. He was nominated for the Jindřich Chalupecký Award three times. He was one of the co-creators of the ''Entropa'' sculpture, which was displayed in Brussels as part of the Czech Republic's Presidency of the Council of the European Union in the first half of 2009. Kintera was awarded the ''Personality of the Year'' award for living artists in 2011 thanks to his monument to suicide under the Nusle Bridge, and again in 2012, this time shared with fellow artist Pavel Mrkus. Jindřich Chalupecký Award
The Jindřich Chalupecký Award ( cs, Cena Jindřicha Chalupeckého) is a prize awarded annually to young visual artists. Candidates must be Czech citizens under the age of 35. History The prize was established in 1990 by Václav Havel, Jiří Kolář and Theodor Pištěk (costume designer), Theodor Pištěk. Until 2000, it was awarded in cooperation with the National Gallery in Prague, but following a dispute between Milan Knížák and David Černý the administration was moved to Brno (Dům umění města Brna and Dům pánů z Kunštátu). Background The prize is awarded by an independent jury, and is managed by the civic association Jindřich Chalupecký Society ( cs, Společnost Jindřicha Chalupeckého). It is named after the art critic and art historian Jindřich Chalupecký. Entropa
''Entropa'' is a sculpture by Czech artist David Černý. The project was commissioned by the Czech government to mark the occasion of its presidency of the Council of the European Union, and was originally designed as a collaboration for 27 artists and artist groups from all member countries of the European Union. However, as a hoax, Černý and three of his assistants created a satirical and controversial piece that depicted pointed stereotypes of the EU member nations. Fake artist profiles were also created by Černý and his accomplices, complete with invented descriptions of their supposed contributions. The sculpture was unveiled informally on 12 January 2009, followed by its official media launch date three days later. Nusle Bridge
Nusle Bridge ( cs, Nuselský most) is a prestressed concrete viaduct in Prague, Czech Republic. It connects Prague 2 and Prague 4, across a valley which forms part of the Nusle district. The bridge is one of the longest in the country and carries two footpaths, a multi-lane road and part of the city's rapid transit network. The bridge links the city center to its south-eastern districts such as Pankrác, and joins the D1 motorway leading to Brno.
