Kristopher Kolumbus Jr. is a 1939 Warner Bros. ''Looney Tunes'' animated cartoon directed by Bob Clampett. The short was released on May 13, 1939, and stars Porky Pig in the role of Christopher Columbus. Plot Since this cartoon is set in 1492, Porky Pig is the star of the short as Kristopher Kolumbus Jr. himself with a song at the title card. The short begins with the 1492 text zooming and forming smoke with the announcer saying that the astronomers thought "the world was flat as a pancake" with a sign on top, located not too far from Saturn. Porky Pig (as Christopher Columbus) proposes to Queen Isabella of Spain to travel the world and prove that it is not flat. When the queen doubts whether the world is round, Porky gives the queen a demonstration by holding on to a baseball. Porky then starts to do a trick with his arm and aims it to the right. Bob Clampett
Robert Emerson Clampett Sr. (May 8, 1913 – May 2, 1984) was an American animator, director, producer and puppeteer. He was best known for his work on the '' Looney Tunes'' animated series from Warner Bros. as well as the television shows ''Time for Beany'' and ''Beany and Cecil''. He was born and raised not far from Hollywood and, early in life, showed an interest in animation and puppetry. After leaving high school a few months shy of graduating in 1931, he joined the team at Harman-Ising Productions and began working on the studio's newest short subjects, ''Looney Tunes'' and '' Merrie Melodies''. Clampett was promoted to a directorial position in 1937. During his 15 years at the studio, he directed 84 cartoons later deemed classic, and designed some of the studio's most famous characters, including Porky Pig, Daffy Duck and Tweety. Willie Whopper
Willie Whopper is an animated cartoon character created by American animator Ub Iwerks. The Whopper series was the second from the Iwerks Studio to be produced by Pat Powers and distributed through Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. 14 shorts were produced in 1933 to 1934. History Willie is a young lad who tells of his many outlandish adventures, which are then depicted on-screen. His fantastic accounts are, in fact, outright lies or "whoppers". His stories are usually preceded by his memorable catchphrase, "Say, did I ever tell ya this one?" The character's first-produced film was ''The Air Race'' (1933), in which Willie tells of how he entered and won the 1933 National Air Race—even receiving a kiss from Amelia Earhart in the end. Bert Gordon (comedian)
Bert Gordon (April 8, 1895 – November 30, 1974) was an American comedian and voice actor who appeared in vaudeville, radio, and occasionally films. Gordon was born Barney Gorodetsky. He appeared in many roles over his lengthy career and was known by the moniker "The Mad Russian". He was a regular on ''The Eddie Cantor Program'', and also appeared on ''The Jack Benny Program'', and ''The Abbott and Costello Program''. In 1945 he starred in his own film vehicle, '' How Doooo You Do!!!'', directed by Ralph Murphy; the film takes its title from Gordon's distinctive way of introducing himself, which became a catch phrase in the early 1940s. ''Hare We Go'' is a 1951 Warner Bros. ''Merrie Melodies'' cartoon directed by Robert McKimson. The short was released on January 6, 1951, and features Bugs Bunny. Plot In 1492 Christopher Columbus is arguing with the king of Spain whether the world is round or flat. Columbus suggests that the Earth is round like an apple or a human head. King Ferdinand insists the Earth is flat like a pancake (and Columbus' head, after flattening it with his scepter). Eventually the king kicks Columbus out of his palace. Then Bugs Bunny emerges from his rabbit hole and asks Columbus what's bothering him.
