Kazakhstan is divided into 17 regions ( kk, облыстар/''oblystar''; singular: облыс/''oblys''; russian: области/''oblasti''; singular: область/''oblast). Kostanay Region
Kostanay Region ( kk, Қостанай облысы, translit=Qostanai oblysy; russian: Костанайская область, translit=Kostanayskaya oblast) is a region of Kazakhstan. Its administrative center is the city of Kostanay. The population of the region is 900,300. The population living in Kostanay is 207,000 which is equivalent to 23% of the region. Geography Kostanay Region is adjacent to the Russian federal subjects Orenburg Oblast, Chelyabinsk Oblast, Kurgan Oblast, and is near the Ural Mountains. It also touches four other Kazakh regions: Aktobe Region to the southwest, Karaganda Region to the south, Akmola Region to the southeast, and North Kazakhstan Region to the northeast. An ''akim'' ( kk, әкім, әкімдер / ''äkimder''; ky, аким; russian: аким) is the head of a local government in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. ''Akim'', meaning "God will establish", is derived from the Arabic word '' hakim'', which means "ruler" or "governor". Aleksandra Klimova
Aleksandra Ivanovna Klimova (, ; 1 October 1921 – 13 May 2005) was a Soviet, Belarusian and Russian stage and film actress and pedagogue. Klimova was born in Zatolobovka in what was then the Kirghiz Autonomous Socialist Soviet Republic and now Kostanay District of the Kostanay Region of Kazakhstan. From 1942 until 1945 she worked at the Magnitogorsk Theatre and in 1949 she attended M.S. Shchepkina Theatre School while working in Odessa. From 1953 to 1956 she worked in the Kharkiv Russian Theatre after which she joined the Maxim Gorky National Academic Drama Theatre in Minsk after moving to the Byelorussian SSR, now Belarus. In 1959 she was awarded the Honored Artist of the Byelorussian SSR, followed by the People's Artist of the Byelorussian SSR in 1963 and People's Artist of the USSR in 1969 for her accomplishments in acting at that theatre. Ivan Pavlov (aviator)
Ivan Fomich Pavlov (russian: Иван Фомич Павлов; 25 June 1922 – 12 October 1950) was a ground attack pilot of the Soviet Air Forces during World War II. He served as both a flight and squadron commander in 6th Guards Assault Aviation Regiment during the conflict, for which he was twice named a Hero of the Soviet Union. Pavlov continued to serve in the Air Force postwar, rising to command a regiment, but was killed in an air accident only five years after the end of the war. Early life Ivan Fomich Pavlov was born into a Russian peasant family in the village of Boris-Romanovka, north of Kostanay in Kostanay Governorate (now in Kazakhstan). From 1931 to 1932 he lived in the station of Terensai, now in the Adamovsky District of Orenburg Oblast, moving in 1932 to the city of Magnitogorsk in Chelyabinsk Oblast.
