Kostadin Kostadinov (professor)
Professor Kostadin Grozev Kostadinov (Bulgarian: ''Костадин Грозев Костадинов'') is a professor of robotics at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and former Deputy Minister for Education in Bulgaria. Biography Kostadin Kostadinov was born on 27th November 1955 in Svilengrad, Bulgaria. He acquired a Master’s degree in both Electrical engineering and in Robotics at the Technical University, Sofia, Technical University of Sofia in the period 1976 – 1983. In 1994 he finished his PhD in Applied mechanics at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS). He has since participated in many scientific forums across Europe. He became a full-time professor at BAS in 2008 and currently works at its Institute of Mechanics. Svilengrad
Svilengrad ( bg, Свиленград; el, Σβίλενγκραντ; ota, Cisr-i Mustafapaşa) is a town in Haskovo Province, south-central Bulgaria, situated at the border of Bulgaria, Turkey and Greece. It is the administrative centre of the homonymous Svilengrad Municipality. Geography Svilengrad is close to the road borders of Greece and Turkey (supposedly one of the largest road customs in Europe). Svilengrad is located ESE of Sofia and Plovdiv, South of Varna and Burgas, West of Edirne and North of the nearest Greek community Ormenio and Alexandroupoli in Greece. There is a higher level of employment than in surrounding villages. Second Borisov Government
The ninety-first Cabinet of Bulgaria took office on November 7, 2014. It was a coalition government chaired by Boyko Borisov. The government was formed after Borisov's party, GERB, won the 2014 parliamentary election. As GERB won 84 out of the 240 seats in the National Assembly (a plurality), they were compelled to form a coalition to legally govern. Formation After being tasked by President Rosen Plevneliev to form a government, Borisov's GERB allied with the Reformist Bloc to form a government and got support from the Alternative for Bulgarian Revival (partnership agreement with GERB) and also had the outside support of the Patriotic Front. Third Borisov Government
The ninety-third Cabinet of Bulgaria took office on May 4, 2017. It was a coalition government that was chaired by Boyko Borisov. The government was formed after the Borisov's party, GERB, won the 2017 parliamentary election. However, GERB won only 95 out of 240 seats in the National Assembly and therefore needed to form a coalition in order to govern. On 16 April 2021, the 45th National Assembly voted for his resignation with 156 votes in favor, 75 against and 9 abstentions. The government resigned and continued to serve until a new cabinet was appointed. On 12 May 2021, the Government was dissolved. Reformist Bloc
The Reformist Bloc ( bg, Реформаторски блок, Reformatorski blok) was a centre-right electoral alliance in Bulgaria. History The coalition agreement to form the alliance was signed on 20 December 2013. The five parties that signed the agreement were: Democrats for a Strong Bulgaria, Bulgaria for Citizens Movement, Union of Democratic Forces, People's Party Freedom and Dignity, and the Bulgarian Agrarian National Union. At the time of signing the coalition the parties had one seat in the European Parliament but none in the National Assembly. In early August 2014 spokesperson Radan Kanev resigned because of what he said was a lack of unity within the alliance: "The image of a united multi-party coalition was replaced by an image of a traditional coalition with many and often conflicting interests." Yordanka Asenova Fandakova ( bg, Йорданка Асенова Фандъкова) (born 12 April 1962) is a Bulgarian politician and Mayor of Sofia. She is the first woman to hold this position. She was elected on 15 November 2009, after defeating the Bulgarian Socialist Party contender Georgi Kadiev. Fandakova is a member of the conservative GERB party.
