Kosmo Vinyl
Kosmo Vinyl (born Mark C. Dunk, 9 February 1957, England) is a former longtime associate and sometime manager for The Clash, as well as being associated with Ian Dury & the Blockheads and The Jam, three seminal English bands of the 1970s and 1980s. He can be heard introducing The Clash at Shea Stadium on The Clash's live album, '' Live at Shea Stadium'', as well as many bootlegged performances such as ''Kingston Advice''. His impressionistic reading of quotes from Travis Bickle in the film ''Taxi Driver'' can be heard on The Clash's " Red Angel Dragnet". Prior to his association with the Clash, he had acted as MC on the Stiff Records tours, appearing on the 1978 LP ''Live Stiffs Live''. He later became a record producer, producing records by Jack Logan and Drivin N Cryin. Jack Logan
Jack Logan (born February 8, 1959) is an American singer-songwriter born in Greenville, Mississippi and raised in Lawrenceville, Illinois. He began recording, however, after moving to Winder, Georgia. He created two comic books in the 1980s, starring Peter Buck of R.E.M. as a superhero, and the connection to Peter Buck led to Twin/Tone Records' Peter Jesperson's interest in releasing some of Logan's material. He also drew a comic book that was included with LP copies of the Coolies second album, ''Doug.'' His first release was the critically acclaimed ''Bulk'' which contained 42 songs from the approximately 600 Logan had recorded from 1979 to 1993. Drivin' n' Cryin' is an American Southern rock band from Atlanta, Georgia, United States. History The band was formed in 1985 in Atlanta when Kevin Kinney hooked up with Frank French at the latter's recording studio, Dragon Path Music, and began working on original songs at night and working at times at French's shop "Far East Futon Company" in Atlanta. Kinney also hooked up with Tim Nielsen, who was in a popular band called the Nightporters with drummer Paul Lenz. ''Live Stiffs Live'' is a live album released in 1978 by Stiff Records. It compiles concert performances by several of the record label's artists recorded during the " Live Stiffs Tour", which ran from 3 October to 5 November 1977. Songs Among the recording artists featured on the album are Elvis Costello and the Attractions, Ian Dury & the Blockheads, Nick Lowe, Wreckless Eric, and Larry Wallis. The album opens with tour MC (and later Clash road manager) Kosmo Vinyl calling audience members away from the bar and introducing the first act as "Nick Lowe's Led Zeppelin". The final cut of the album is a performance of Ian Dury's hit, "Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll" performed by all of the tour's artists and crew.
