Korn Chatikavanij
Korn Chatikavanij ( th, กรณ์ จาติกวณิช, , born 19 February 1964 in London) is a Thai Democrat Party (Thailand), Democrat Party politician, best selling author, and former investment banker. From 2008 to 2011, he was Ministry of Finance (Thailand), finance minister under Abhisit Vejjajiva. Early life Korn was born in Princess Beatrice Hospital, London, England, to Mr. Kraisri ( th, ไกรศรี) and Mrs. Rumpa Chatikavanij (née Brahmopala). His father was Commissioner of the Customs Department, Commissioner of the Revenue Department, and Director of the Fiscal Policy Office. His grandfather, Phraya Athikarnprakat ( th, พระยาอธิกรณ์ประกาศ), was Police Commissioner and a member of the Privy Council (Thailand), Privy Council for King Prajadhipok (Rama VII). Privy Council (Thailand)
The Privy Council of Thailand ( th, คณะองคมนตรีไทย, khana ongkhamontri thai) is a body of appointed advisors to the Monarchy of Thailand. The council, as the Constitution of Thailand stipulates, must be composed of no more than eighteen members. The council is led by the President of the Privy Council of Thailand, currently occupied by former Prime Minister Surayud Chulanont since 27 May 2019. The king alone appoints all members of the council. The council's offices are in the Privy Council Chambers, Phra Nakhon District, Bangkok. Winchester College
Winchester College is a public school (fee-charging independent day and boarding school) in Winchester, Hampshire, England. It was founded by William of Wykeham in 1382 and has existed in its present location ever since. It is the oldest of the nine schools considered by the Clarendon Commission. The school is currently undergoing a transition to become co-educational and to accept day pupils, having previously been a boys' boarding school for over 600 years. Talad Noi
Talat Noi or Talad Noi ( th, ตลาดน้อย, ) is a historic neighbourhood in Bangkok. It roughly occupies the area of the sub-district of the same name in Samphanthawong District. On the periphery of Bangkok's Chinatown, Talat Noi has been home to various ethnic Chinese communities since soon after the foundation of Bangkok. Several historic buildings are found in the area, including the Holy Rosary Church, the Talat Noi Branch of Siam Commercial Bank, and the So Heng Tai Mansion. Talat Noi has a long history predating the founding of Bangkok. The first ethnic group to settle here were the Portuguese from Ayutthaya. They built a Portuguese church in 1786, today known as the Holy Rosary Church or, in Thai, ''Wat Kalawa''. Sou Heng Tai Mansion
The So Heng Tai Mansion ( th, บ้านโซวเฮงไถ่, from zh, 蘇恒泰) is a nineteenth-century Chinese courtyard house in the historic neighbourhood of Talat Noi in Bangkok. It was built by Phra Aphaiwanit (Chat, of the So ( 蘇) clan, 1813–1849), a Hokkien Chinese bird's nest tax farmer with ancestry from Fujian who eventually joined the nobility under King Rama III. His descendants include many prominent Thai businessmen, celebrities and politicians including Korn Chatikavanij. The house has continuously been inhabited by his descendants, including one branch who now form the Poshyachinda family. It is one of the last remaining traditional Chinese houses in Bangkok and claims to be the oldest private residence in the city. Fujian (; alternately romanized as Fukien or Hokkien) is a province on the southeastern coast of China.
