Korea Basketball Association
The Korea Basketball Association (KBA; ko, 대한농구협회) is the governing body of basketball in South Korea. Formed in 1925, it is based in Seoul. The KBA is a member of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) and FIBA Asia. The current president of the federation is Pang Yul. The federation also organizes the South Korea national basketball team and the South Korea women's national basketball team. Korean Language
Korean ( South Korean: , ''hangugeo''; North Korean: , ''chosŏnmal'') is the native language for about 80 million people, mostly of Korean descent. It is the official and national language of both North Korea and South Korea (geographically Korea), but over the past years of political division, the two Koreas have developed some noticeable vocabulary differences. Beyond Korea, the language is recognised as a minority language in parts of China, namely Jilin Province, and specifically Yanbian Prefecture and Changbai County. It is also spoken by Sakhalin Koreans in parts of Sakhalin, the Russian island just north of Japan, and by the in parts of Central Asia. Korean Olympic Committee
The Korean Sport & Olympic Committee (, Abbr.: KOC) is the National Olympic Committee of Republic of Korea (competing as Korea) for the Olympic Games movement and inbound sports issue. Basketball In South Korea
South Korea has traditional sports of its own, as well as sports from different cultures and countries. Sports originating from Korea Taekwondo, a popular martial sport is often claimed to have historical origins on the Korean peninsula with origins said to have been traced as far back as the 1st century BCE. However, such historical claims are difficult to empirically verify and separate from the influences of neighboring counties. The sport rose to prominence following the end of Japanese occupation with the end of WWII. Formalized rules were established in 1961 and in 1988 the sport became an Olympic event. The name "Taekwondo" literally means ''way of foot and fist'', although the modern emphasis lies on the kicks.
