Kooralbyn is a rural locality in the Scenic Rim Region, Queensland, Australia. In the , Kooralbyn had a population of 1,725 people. Geography Kooralbyn is approximately south-west of Beaudesert, itself some south of Brisbane in South East Queensland, and west of Queensland's Gold Coast. Kooralbyn is commonly referred to as the Valley by its residents due to the former name Kooralbyn Valley. History ''Kooralbyn'' is a Yugambeh word meaning the ''place of the copperhead snake''. First European settlement in the area can be traced back to the 1830s when southern timber millers sought the quality hardwoods of the lower valleys. It was not until Australia's first major land booms in the 1840s that free settler pastoralists migrated to the region. Kooralbyn International School
The Kooralbyn International School (TKIS) is an independent, co-educational, boarding and day school, located in Kooralbyn, about 64 km south of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. TKIS is the only school in Australia to have produced two Young Australian of the Year recipients (Cathy Freeman and Scott Hocknull). History The school was founded in 1985, at a site on the banks of Cannon Creek now known as the 'Lower campus'. However, in the mid-1990s, it was largely relocated to a nearby hillside after flooding incidents in 1990 and 1991 caused extensive damage to the school. A wooden pillar from one of the school's original buildings still stands on the grounds, as a monument to these events. The original TKIS closed in 2002 due to funding issues. Beaudesert is a rural town and locality in the Scenic Rim Region, Queensland, Australia. In the , Beaudesert had a population of 6,395 people. Beaudesert is the administrative centre for the Scenic Rim Region. Geography Beaudesert is south of Brisbane and west of the Gold Coast. Beaudesert is located on the Mount Lindesay Highway, some south of Brisbane. The area sources its income predominantly from rural activities such as cropping, grazing and equine activities, as well as tourism. It has a racecourse, 50-metre swimming pool, public library, two gyms, two secondary schools, two primary schools, showgrounds, caravan park and several hotels and eateries. Bromelton is a rural locality in the Scenic Rim Region, Queensland, Australia. In the , Bromelton had a population of 155 people. Geography The Beaudesert–Boonah Road (State Route 90) runs through from east to north. History Bromelton Post Office opened on 1 July 1927 (a receiving office had been open by 1883) and closed in 1938. In 1842, Hugh Henry Robertson settled a run at Bromelton, becoming the first European to reside in the Logan River valley. Bromelton Provisional School opened on 25 October 1880. Cannon Creek is a rural locality in the Scenic Rim Region, Queensland, Australia. In the , Cannon Creek had a population of 75 people. History St John's Anglican Church was dedicated on 18 November 1911 by Venerable Henry Le Fanu, the Archdeacon of Toowoomba.
