Kooky
''Kooky'' ( cs, Kuky se vrací, literally "Kuky returns", a pun on '' Lassie se vrací'') is a 2010 Czech action comedy film directed by Jan Svěrák. The film combines techniques of puppet animation, stop motion and live action. It tells the story of a six-year-old asthmatic boy whose parents throw his favorite toy away, an old teddy bear named Kooky. The boy, however, secretly sneaks out of the house at night (without his boots and being dressed only in his pajamas), to retrieve Kooky from the garbage can and bring him back home. Due to that, the boy gets ill. In his feverish dreams, Kooky comes to life in the landfill, escapes into a mysterious forest and begins its journey amongst the rough-and-ready creatures of the forest. Michal Novinski
Michal Novinski (born ''Michal Nicik'', 1971 in Slovakia) is a music composer best known for his film scores and theatre music. He received two Czech Lion Awards for scores for the films ''Kooky'' and '' In the Shadow''. Career Novinski's career started when he was 19 with a commission from the Slovak National Theatre for a ballet ''The Light in the Darkness'' ( Slovak: ''Svetlo v tme''), directed and choreographed by Ondrej Šoth. The success of this project was followed by a collaboration with the Slovak mime artist Milan Sládek. Novinski eventually worked with prestigious theaters in Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Hungary, including the National Theatre in Prague and Vígszínház Theatre in Budapest. Vladimír Smutný
Vladimír Smutný (born 13 July 1942) is a Czech cinematographer. He is an eight-time winner of the Czech Lion Award for Best Cinematography. He was also a cinematographer of Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film winner ''Kolya'' (1996). His father was a photographer. His sister, Jitka Smutná, is an actress. After graduating from FAMU in Prague, he worked as an advertising photographer for Tesla Holešovice and as a camera operator for Krátký film Praha. From 1974 he worked as an assistant cinematographer. His first projects as director of photography 1980s when he worked primarily with directors Jiří Svoboda and Karel Kachyňa. Since mid-1990s he works primarily with directors Jan Svěrák and Václav Marhoul. Since 1997 he teaches at FAMU in Prague. Jakub Dvorský (born August 19, 1978) is a designer and video game creator from Brno, Czech Republic. In 2003, he founded Amanita Design, a small independent game developing studio based in the Czech Republic. Life and career Between 1994–1997 he was part of video game studio NoSense. He participated in development of projects ''Dračí Historie'' ("Dragon History"), ''Katapult'' ("Catapult") and '' Asmodeus: Tajemný kraj Ruthaniolu'' ("Asmodeus: Mysterious Country of Ruthaniol"). Oldřich Kaiser (born 16 May 1955) is a Czech television, film, and stage actor known mostly for his comedic roles. Education and career Kaiser graduated from the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague in 1978. Voděradské bučiny (Voděrady Beechwood) is a National Nature Reserve located near the town of Černé Voděrady in the Prague-East District, Central Bohemian Region, Czech Republic. Bechyně (; german: Bechin, Beching or ''Bechingen'') is a town in Tábor District in the South Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 4,900 inhabitants.
