Konyaspor Kulübü (, Konya Sports Club) is a Turkish professional football club based in Konya. They are better known as Konyaspor. In 1922 Konyaspor were founded with the name Konya Gençlerbirliği and have played at their current home stadium, Konya Metropolitan Municipality Stadium, since 2014. Konyaspor currently play in the Süper Lig, the top tier of Turkish football. The club colours are green and white. History Konyaspor were founded officially with the name Konya Gençlerbirliği on 22 June 1922. As champions of the regional Konya Football League they participated in the 1924 Turkish Football Championship, the first ever national championship in Turkish football. 2008–09 Süper Lig
The 2008–09 Süper Lig (also known as ''Turkcell Super League'' due to sponsoring reasons) was the fifty-first season since its establishment. It began on 22 August 2008 and ended on 31 May 2009. Galatasaray were the defending champions. Beşiktaş clinched the championship after winning at Denizlispor on the last matchday. The latter barely avoided relegation after finishing in a three-way tie on points with Gençlerbirliği and Konyaspor. Head-to-head comparison between those three teams eventually resulted in the demotion of Konyaspor, who joined Kocaelispor and Hacettepe on their way to the second-level First League. Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray had to settle for fourth and fifth place, respectively, after Sivasspor came in as runners-up and Trabzonspor finished third. 2010–11 Süper Lig
The 2010–11 Süper Lig (known as the ''Spor Toto Süper Lig'' for sponsorship reasons) was the 53rd season since its establishment. The season began on 14 August 2010 and concluded on 22 May 2011. Fenerbahçe claimed their 18th title, but the season was marred by the 2011 Turkish football match-fixing scandal which involved 17 Süper Lig teams and dozens of people, including club bosses and Turkish internationals. Managerial career After an amateur career in Turkish football mostly with Hatayspor, Palut became a manager with amateur clubs Kırıkhanspor and Hatayspor. Konya İdman Yurdu were a Turkish sports club based in Konya, Turkey. The club were founded on 3 July 1923 and dissolved in 1981, when they merged with Konyaspor. The TFF 1. Lig, officially known as Spor Toto 1. Lig for sponsorship reasons, is the second level of the Turkish football league system. The league was founded in 2001 as the ''Turkish Second League Category A'' after the reorganization of the Second Football League, which was the second level of the Turkish league system between 1963 and 2001. The league was called ''Türk Telekom Lig A'' in the 2006–2007 season, and was renamed to ''TFF First League'' prior to the 2007–08 season. As of 16 January 2008 the league was renamed as Bank Asya 1. The Konya Metropolitan Municipality Stadium ( tr, Konya Büyükşehir Belediye Stadyumu) is a multi-purpose stadium in Konya, Turkey. 1924 Turkish Football Championship
The 1924 Turkish Football Championship was the first edition of the competition and the first national championship ever in Turkish football. It was held in September. All matches were played at İstiklal Sahası in the capital Ankara. Harbiye won their first championship title unbeaten and without conceding a single goal by defeating Bahriye 3–0 in the final and became the first national champions in Turkish football history, with two more titles to follow in 1942 and 1945 under the name Harp Okulu. For Bahriye it was the sole appearance in the championship final and their sole participation in the competition altogether. Harbiye and Bahriye (both from Istanbul) formed an exception in the inaugural edition of the tournament, since they were included by the Turkish Football Federation in the championship as military clubs and not as champions of a civilian regional league.
