1924 Turkish Football Championship
The 1924 Turkish Football Championship was the first edition of the competition and the first national championship ever in Turkish football. It was held in September. All matches were played at İstiklal Sahası in the capital Ankara. Harbiye won their first championship title unbeaten and without conceding a single goal by defeating Bahriye 3–0 in the final and became the first national champions in Turkish football history, with two more titles to follow in 1942 and 1945 under the name Harp Okulu. For Bahriye it was the sole appearance in the championship final and their sole participation in the competition altogether. Harbiye and Bahriye (both from Istanbul) formed an exception in the inaugural edition of the tournament, since they were included by the Turkish Football Federation in the championship as military clubs and not as champions of a civilian regional league. Turkish Football Championship
The Turkish Football Championship ( tr, Türkiye Futbol Şampiyonası) was a top-level football competition in Turkey. It was the first nationwide championship in Turkish football history. The championship was organised by the Turkish Football Federation (then called ''Futbol Hey'et-i Müttehidesi''). The tournament system was based on a knockout competition, contested between the winners of each of the country's regional leagues. After 1951 and the professionalization of Turkish football, the competition continued under the name Turkish Amateur Football Championship (Turkish: ''Türkiye Amatör Futbol Şampiyonası'') with a completely different status. The İzmir Football League ( tr, İzmir Futbol Ligi) was founded as a regional football league for İzmir based clubs in 1924. In the period from 1924 to 1935, the winners of the İzmir League qualified for the former Turkish Football Championship. In 1937 the first national league in Turkish football was introduced. The top two placed teams of the İzmir League qualified for the National Division, which took place after the conclusion of the regional leagues each season. The name of the league was changed later and became İzmir Professional Football League in the 1955–56 season, when professional football was introduced. The league continued to be played after 1959, though it was no longer a first level competition since the professional nationwide league was introduced in 1959. Çukurova Football League
The Çukurova Football League ( tr, Çukurova Futbol Ligi), also known as the Adana Football League ( tr, Adana Futbol Ligi), was founded as a regional association football, football league for Adana and Mersin based clubs in 1924. The name of the league comes from Çukurova region. In some years clubs from Kahramanmaraş, Maraş and Malatya also participated in the league. In Adana, the football game was played during the 1910s. Adana Türk Gücü were the first club in Adana founded in 1913. The league was played within a year until 1936. In the period from 1924 to 1935, the winners of the Çukurova League qualified for the former Turkish Football Championship. The Eskişehir Football League ( tr, Eskişehir Futbol Ligi) was founded as a regional football league for Eskişehir based clubs in 1924. Although it was held a few years before 1924 already, it gained official status in 1924 as the national football association was founded in 1923 and began organising the regional leagues. In the period from 1924 to 1935, the winners of the Eskişehir League qualified for the former Turkish Football Championship. In 1940 Eskişehir Demirspor won the Turkish championship against Fenerbahçe, marking a turning point in Turkish football as clubs from Istanbul, Ankara, and İzmir were the dominating sides in those decades. İdmanocağı or İdman Ocağı is a Turkish sports club based in Trabzon, Turkey. The club had a strong rivalry with another club, İdmangücü, which matched the The Intercontinental Derby, Istanbul derby between Fenerbahçe S.K., Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray S.K., Galatasaray. İdmanocağı were compared to Galatasaray in that period, partly because of this rivalry and partly because of their red and yellow colours.
