Kongsi Raya
Kongsi Raya, also known as Gongxi Raya, is a Malaysian portmanteau, denoting the Chinese New Year and Hari Raya Aidilfitri (Eid ul-Fitr) festivals. As the timing of these festivals fluctuate due to their reliance on lunar calendars (the Chinese calendar is a lunisolar calendar while the Islamic calendar is a purely lunar calendar), they occasionally occur close to one another - every 33 years to be exact. Occurrence The phenomenon is observed to take place every 33 years. The last occurrence was between 1996 and 1998; the next will be between 2029 and 2031. Etymology For the sake of convenience, Malaysian media took to combining "kongsi" (from the traditional Chinese New Year greeting, ''gong xi fa cai'') and "raya", the Malay word for "celebration", which is often used to denote the Muslim Eid ul-Fitr festival ("Hari Raya Aidilfitri"). Kongsi Raya (film)
''Kongsi Raya'' (Chinese: 姜味关系) is a 2022 Malaysian Malay-language comedy drama film. It tells the story of a Chinese chef who is in love with a Malay TV producer, but their relationship faces objections from both of their long-feuding chef fathers. Things gets out of hand when the fathers decide to rival in a live TV cooking competition showdown. It is released on 3 February 2022 in Malaysian cinemas. The film stars Wilson Lee, Qasrina Karim, Harith Iskander, Erra Fazira, Chew Kin Wah, Ong Ai Leng and Teddy Chin. DeepaRaya
{{Short description, Portmanteau neologism of Deepavali and Hari Raya DeepaRaya is a name for the Deepavali and Hari Raya festivals, which are traditionally celebrated by Hindus and Muslims, respectively, in Malaysia as well as in Singapore. The word came about because of the occasional coincidental timing of the Hindu festival Deepavali and the Muslim festival of Eid ul-Fitr, referred to in the Malay language as Hari Raya Aidilfitri. In this sense, it is similar to the portmanteau of Kongsi Raya, which combines the Chinese New Year with Hari Raya. Thanksgivukkah is a holiday name portmanteau neologism given to the convergence of the American holiday of Thanksgiving (United States), Thanksgiving and the first day (and second night) of the Jewish holiday of Hanukkah, Hanukkah on Thursday, November 28, 2013. It was the result of a rare coincidence between the lunisolar Hebrew calendar (whose dates reflect both the moon phase and the time of the solar year, and which can have between 353 and 385 days per year) and the Gregorian calendar. Because the calendars are not calculated the same way, Hanukkah appears from year to year on different dates on the Gregorian calendar, ranging from late November to early January. ''Chrismukkah'' is a pop-culture portmanteau neologism referring to the merging of the holidays of Christianity's Christmas and Judaism's Hanukkah. It first arose in the German-speaking countries within middle-class Jews of the 19th century.
