Koko (gorilla)
Hanabiko "Koko" (July 4, 1971 – June 19, 2018) was a female western lowland gorilla. Koko was born in San Francisco Zoo, and lived most of her life at The Gorilla Foundation's preserve in the Santa Cruz Mountains. The name , , is of Japanese origin and is a reference to her date of birth, the Fourth of July. Koko gained public attention upon a report of her having adopted a kitten as a pet and naming him "All Ball", which the public perceived as her ability to rhyme. Her instructor and caregiver, Francine Patterson, reported that Koko had an active vocabulary of more than 1,000 signs of what Patterson calls "Gorilla Sign Language" (GSL). This puts Koko's vocabulary at the same level as a three-year-old human. In contrast to other experiments attempting to teach sign language to non-human primates, Patterson simultaneously exposed Koko to spoken English from an early age. Demeter Koko
Demeter Koko (13 June 1891, in Linz – 27 October 1929, in Linz) was an Austrian graphic artist active in the early 20th century. Education After completing his studies at the Linz Handelsakademie (vocational school), the 17-year-old Koko began to study painting in Linz. In Munich he perfected his style between the years 1910 and 1915 and finally returned to Linz in 1916. However his stay here was cut short as he was soon called up for military service as the First World War was raging. Life and work He had his first exhibition in 1919, after the war had ended. This was a joint exhibition with his sister Sophie Koko. In 1921 he became a member of the Upper Austrian Artists' Society. In 1923 he developed lung disease and died of this condition in 1929. His paintings and drawings feature landscapes, flowers, and animals. His work is featured in the Linz Nordico gallery and in the Upper Austrian State Museum. Koko Taylor (born Cora Anna Walton, September 28, 1928 – June 3, 2009) was an American singer whose style encompassed Chicago blues, electric blues, rhythm and blues and soul blues. Koko Sakibo (born 10 December 1987 in Lagos) is a Nigerian professional football striker who most recently played for FC Bardez in the Goa Professional League.
