Kodocha
is a Japanese manga series by Miho Obana. The series was adapted as an OVA by J.C. Staff and released on December 16, 1995, by Shueisha under their Ribon Video label. An anime television series was produced by NAS and TV Tokyo, animated by Studio Gallop, and broadcast on TV Tokyo every Friday from April 5, 1996, to March 27, 1998. In 2002, the manga was published in North America in English by Tokyopop as ''Kodocha: Sana's Stage''. In 2006, Tokyopop lost the license to the manga, leaving it out of print. In 2005, the first half of the anime series was licensed for North American distribution by Funimation Entertainment and has been released on DVD. In 2012, Funimation announced that their Kodocha DVDs went out of print. In 2020, Discotek Media announced that they have rescue licensed the series for release on SD Blu-ray in 2021. Miho Obana
is a shōjo manga artist born in Tokyo, Japan. Her best-known work was ''Kodomo no Omocha'', also known as ''Kodocha'', which was published in ''Ribon'' magazine, and won the Kodansha Manga Award for shōjo in 1998. Other works include ''Partner'', ''Andante'' and '' Honey Bitter''. Biography Obana began her manga career as an assistant to Momoko Sakura, the creator of ''Chibi Maruko-chan''. In 1990 she debuted with a one-shot manga, ''Mado no Mukō'', which was published in the autumn 1990 issue of '' Ribon Bikkuri''. Later stories would appear in ''Ribon Original'' and ''Ribon'' magazines. In 1994, she authored ''Kodomo no Omocha'', a shojo manga series about a child actress who interacts with an aloof elementary school boy. Akitaro Daichi
is a Japanese anime director, producer and photography director. Career Daichi is a native of Gunma Prefecture and a graduate of Tokyo Polytechnic University. He originally aspired to be a stage photographer, but entered the employ of Tokyo Animation Film, an anime photography company. His first work in the industry was as photography director for the ''Doraemon'' movie ''History of Nobita's Outer Space Trailblazing'' (ドラえもん のび太の宇宙開拓史). After five years, Daichi changed jobs and worked for a video production company making karaoke videos among other things, but he later returned to the anime industry and focused on direction. The American Anime Awards were a series of awards designed to recognize excellence in the release of anime and manga in North America. The first (and only) annual American Anime Awards balloting was supervised by Milton Griepp of industry website ICv2. The first gala awards presentation was hosted in New York City on February 24, 2007, at New York Comic Con.
